Vehicle Detail

1988 Honda 'Super Magna' - 'Assembled' in Marysville, Ohio...note 'Made in USA' on VIN decal. Honda Magna enthusiasts will quickly recognize this as the very best year of the Magna, and also the most sought after. I purchased this motorcycle from its original owner. He purchased it New, in 1991(I believe), as a 'leftover'. Many of these were still sitting new in crates in 1992! Why(?) you may ask... I can only offer you my personal experience. I owned a older generation magna 1984 V30, loved it too, but when these ''Supers" debuted in 1987, they were Far ahead of their time. I remember saying to my riding buddies, "They've RUINED the Magna!"...LOL. They were SO 'futuristic', even (then)current Magna lovers such as myself, thought them more than a bit 'freaky'. Suffering horrible sales numbers, many (and perhaps most?) of the ~3000 88's manufactured still sat 'crated' at dealers into the early 1990's. As design and time would 'catch up' to the styling, their popularity exploded, their styling genius finally recognized. If you were lucky enough to be caught riding one in, say 1997, it could 'easily' be mistaken for a 'brand new' motorcycle. They were indeed a full 'decade' ahead of their time. This motorcycle features a Very low seat height and CG, making it popular with shorter riders of both sexes. They have a 6 speed tranny, shaft drive, water cooled, easy hydraulic clutch. The 87's were ~700cc's, but in 1988 they bumped them up to ~750cc, and roughly 88hp. They are so rare the 'few' passenger back rests made to fit them often draw extremely high prices...and I'm sorry this one has none. The seat is a two piece, solo, or two-up. The seatcover on this one is original, and not perfect, but still very presentable. The passenger section was re-sewn at the stitching seam, and the drivers section has a small tear underneath, near the left side shock tower (you have to kneel down to even see it...). I installed a new battery (Interstate brand 'Xtreme' lead/acid) only a few months ago. It has a new rear tire (Metzeler 880...Non-radial). The front still has plenty of tread, but is now ~15 years old and s/b replaced soon...due to age. It has excellent brakes/pads front (disc), and rear (drum). I rebuilt the front caliper, installed one new piston (other was fine), and they work perfectly (front and rear). The original owner did 'drill out' the baffle surrounds on all 4 (see 5 holes in each-photo) mufflers giving it a very unique crackle sound 4 in, 4 out. I don't think its 'loud' at all, but it is 'slightly' louder than stock, even tho they are the stock mufflers. Comes with original tool kit (tucked behind left sidecover) and tools. Original owners manual and papers/folder included. Recent oil/filter change...about 1k on it, the oil is very 'clean'. A motorcycle cover (older) is also included. The paint is (I believe) all original, and in very good condition. There are small specs/minor scratches throughout, what you should expect for a 16k mile motorcycle. There is also a small 'ding' on the alum cover of the rear solid wheel...likely a minor rock ding...not very noticable at all. There are NO dings/dents in the paint...just some small scratches/touch up spots (mainly on bottom fairing)...all minor. It still looks 'great' IMO. I recently installed a new factory Honda coolant temp sensor/fan activator. The original owner had the tranny rebuilt (at Honda dealer) for ~1750 dollars...full detailed receipt included. This is/was not at all 'uncommon' for this model, and I believe the only 'flaw' in the entire motorcycle. This was done in '05...the tranny shifts flawlessly...as it should! Front fork seals are doing some very minor 'weeping'. A 'new' factory honda fork seal kit is included...I haven't had them installed yet. There are also a few extra new factory rubber 'grommets' for the sidecovers that are included. At 16k miles this bike is just getting broken in...it starts/runs/idles/accelerates/stops AS IT SHOULD. No Leaks. Suitable for a daily driver...I'd keep it 'forever' if I had garage space. NO Test 'Jockeys'...and NO hauling/driving it until full payment is 'cleared' or in cash. This is a 'fine specimin'. It is all 'bone' stock, with exception of holes drilled in mufflers, and even they are 'stock'. There is some oxidation on side cases/fork down tubes, aluminum rims, but as you can see from the photos, its still in 'very good' condition. Garage kept Always. Premium fuel Always. The original owner and myself are both motorcycle lovers, and take care of their 'stuff'. 300$ Deposit via Paypal within 24hrs of auction end (completely refundable if unhappy for ANY reason), but remaining to be paid in cash or cashiers check, in person. I would also entertain the full amount to paypal, if the buyer makes up the difference lost in commission. Naturally it is sold 'As is, Where is', and without warranty...at 23yrs old. Clear title/in posession. These are a rare and unique ride, a 'Great' Ride, IMO. BID with Confidence, see my feedback! Thank you for reading/looking and 'Good Luck' with bidding!!!
