Vehicle Detail
1978 International Scout II 4x4 with 99761 miles. I've owned this Scout since 1993 and it has been like a family member since that time. In fact, my Grandfather owned it since 1978 and lived in Yucca Valley, California. Yucca Valley is in the mountains of California and it stayed nice and dry the entire time. He picked the Scout up the week I was born in Topeka, KS and drove it back the following week. So when I say it's been a family member, I mean that. This scout was the one that started years and years of enjoyment with my Father at countless International Harvester shows and events. Since I have had this Scout I have meticulously taken care of it keeping it spotless and free from any salt, or moisture for that matter. It's absolutely rust free and in excellent condition. Why sell it? I've got two kids of my own now and no time to enjoy it. It sits around to much and it is time to move on. I received the scout with 73234 miles on it and it now has 99761 without a day of snow or rain driving under it's belt. In 2004 I put a completely rebuilt 392 improved cooling engine in the scout. The engine went in the scout at 97345 miles. Obviously, the original 304 motor was not bad I just had the itch to try a 392. It drives great and the engine purrs. It has a set of Stan's headers on it with some turbo mufflers. The scout has 3.07 gears in it and it is a real joy to drive around town and on the highway. A/C works great! The wheels are original scout rallye wheels(chrome center caps are in the back in a box) with 33x10.5x15 BFG A/T's (500 miles). The interior is in excellent condition with the original green vinyl underneath the black custom seat covers you see in the picture. There is no rust in the floor boards as you can see in the pics. I repainted the exterior of the scout 10 years ago and the paint looks great. I have probably forgotten a few things so please ask questions. Thanks for looking. 785-633-9336
