Up for bid is a very beautiful, clean classic. This BMW has been well cared for throughout its 35 years and only has 86,000 miles on it. I believe that I am the 3rd owner and it has always been a California car. The body is virtually rust free- including shock towers and spare tire well. Paint is in excellent condition. Sunroof operates smoothly and really make the car a blast to drive. The interior is very clean- no rips or tears on seats or carpet. The dash has a little bit of fine cracking at the very top which is hidden behind the instrument cluster and very difficult to see. Many of the window seals are recently replaced with new ones. The wheels are in good shape and the tires have a lot of tread left on them. included in the sale, are the original steel wheels (including a spare). The tires on the spare set vary from brand new to pretty bald. The original tool roll is still in the trunk. Also included is the commerative keychain that I am told BMW sent to the registered owners of all 2002's in the year 2002. Motor and tranny are really strong - this car is so fun to drive. The car has a very recent oil change, new spark plugs, wires and ignition parts. the battery and alternator are also very new. Issues: there seems to be a very small exhaust leak- which will sometimes cause a slight popping sound when downshifting at high RPMs before the exhaust system gets completely warmed up. it goes away after complete warm up. The driver tailight is cracked, but i just talked to someone who has one nearby and will likely have it replaced, or at least give it to the winner of the auction, if i dont have time to put it on. The front drivers side plastic grille is cracked and the metal above it is slightly tweaked due to a parking lot bump. its not easy to see right away- I will try to include better pictures soon. if i can get a replacemnt grill before the auction end, i will swap the piece out. Otherwise. what you are bidding on is an awesome car that i am very reluctant to sell. It is not perfect, but is in outstanding shape and great example of how a well engineered car can remain timeless. If the car gets sold to someone in California, I will have it Smogged before final payment. I will not orchestrate shipping of the car, but will certainly do what i can to help out with the process. please look at the pictures and email me with any questions.
