Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for auction is a completely original 1967 230SL Roadster/Convertible. It is finished in dark olive green with a bamboo leather interior. It does have the original hardtop. The cloth top is black and also in good condition. This vehicle is owned by my retired next door neighbor of 15 yrs. I agreed to help him sell it. This fine automobile has been owned by him for the last 27 years, was always stored inside and very, very rarely has ever seen rain. It has never been driven in the snow. He would not hesitate to drive it across the country. This was never used as a daily driver. It was always used as a weekend fun car. Other than doing normal maintenance over the years, oil changes, brakes front and rear, battery, etc. the car has been trouble free. This is a European model as noted by the fishbowl style headlights and rear emergency flasher. It runs and drives wonderfully. The miles are 128,485. The speedometer does not work, however the miles have always registered. It has an Blaupunkt am/fm cassette player installed and also has the original 230sl chrome blank which was removed when the radio was installed. It is powered by an inline fuel injected 6-cylinder matched with a 4-speed manual transmission. The leather seats, door panels and dash are all in very good condition (there is a small tear in the drivers seat base as seen in the pictures), as is the wood trim and center console. The carpet is original and in good condition. The carpet covers the center drive shaft area and rear area. There is some wear on the drivers side dash sill. The floorboards have rubber mats as seen in the pictures. The car has not been smoked in, at least for the last 27 years, and there is no evidence of such. The exterior is in good condition. There is a very slight amount of surface rust on the left front fender, behind the front driver's side wheel and a small amount on the rear quarters behind the wheels (as seen in pictures), and on two of the chrome bumper corners. The numbers on the hood match the numbers on the VIN tag. To the best of our knowledge the paint is original and there has been no bodywork. All the lenses and glass are in great condition, however there are a couple flea bite chips on the passenger side of the front glass; not cracks but very small chips. We did have a gentleman that is very knowledgeable on this specific vehicle inspect it. He targeted the car specifically for frame rust, as is typical for this age of car. After going over it with a fine tooth comb the only issue he noted was some light surface rust under the mat in the trunk area and some rust under the front fenders. If you wrap your hands over the top edges of the fenders that is where it was found. Other than the car checked out great. The tires are matching Michelin's and have over 7/32nds of tread remaining. This would make a great daily driver for someone, or a very nice base for a restoration. I've tried to call all the major issues with the vehicle. One must keep in mind this is a 43 year old vehicle and is and will not be perfect. Purchasing a vehicle over e-bay is a very trusting deed. The last thing we want is someone to be unhappy with their purchase and investment. We contacted Mercedes Benz and learned the car was imported to Belgium on December 2nd, 1966.
