Year correct drivetrain, all components dated 1968. Restored to a very high standard - a genuine survivor convertible from Nevada, now in Los Angeles. The car is a totally straight, dry, desert car, with no rust (see pictures of underside, etc). Rebuilt 400 H.O. engine, with correct block casting number (9790071, dated 1968) and #16 big valve heads (also dated 1968). New pistons, connecting rods (forged), bearings, valves (+ hardened seats), guides, camshaft, lifters, pushrods, timing gear, water pump, alternator, etc, etc.Rebuilt 4-barrel Quadrajet. Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold.Correct H.O. "Long Branch" cast exhaust manifolds. Rebuilt Muncie 4 speed. New bearings, synchro's, hubs, seals etc. Rebuilt suspension and steering. New shocks, bushes, ball joints etc. Rebuilt steering box. Wheels aligned.Rebuilt brakes all round (factory disks at front). Re-chromed front and rear bumpers and many, many, new trim and other parts. Restored 14x6 Rally II wheels (correct JC code). Good tires. Correct jack and lug wrench, full size JC code spare.Flawless "Marigold Yellow" paint (a factory option in '68). Complete new black interior with restored console. New black top (including both cylinders), top boot (+ bag) and weatherstripping, new boot mat and spare cover.All unique 400 H.O. body details are present and correct - including original hood (with cast metal hood scoops, "400" insignia, and working hood tach), "hockey sticks" on grill, and Pontiac insignia on front bumper. Dealer installed rear spoiler. Milage shows as 34,554Car presents extremely well, and is a real head turner. Paint and interior are immaculate, Car has great stance and gaps, starts immediately, and has a nice exhaust note. Acceleration is awesome and brakes work well (disks in front). Steering is precise and car tracks straight and true. Handling is tight and limited-slip diff works well. All electrical items and accessories work properly (power top, AM radio, heater fan,wipers/washers, gauges, lights, etc). The new owner of this Firebird will possess a late 1960's convertible worthy of a favored spot in muscle car heaven, as it combines the very best of everything: outstanding performance, looks and power.
