Vehicle Detail
General Overview: This auction is for a 1951 GMC 3200 (1/2 ton) pickup truck that starts and runs well. The truck is located in the desert Southwest of St. George, Utah. It is an older, body off restoration (non-professional) that kept most of the stock features and added some modern touches that improve its daily usability. Based on the odometer reading , the truck appears to have seen very limited use since the restoration was completed. Review all photos, descriptions and communicate any questions to me prior to bidding. Please ask questions. Body: The truck is complete with all body panels present and straight. There does not appear to be any body filler (Bondo) under the paint. The paint (1951 factory color-Huron Green) shows light fading, scratches, some chipping and wear in a number of places. The bed wood is not rotted but shows staining and wear in places. The front panel of the bed is a sheet metal replacement of the original. Tailgate, doors and hood hinges are present and work properly. Glass is all present and not broken or cracked. Weather stripping is worn and leaks air around the doors. There are some minor holes in the cab floorboard area. The original 16” wheels have been replaced with 15” modern wheels with radial tires (tread excellent). Two exterior (non-original) and one interior (rear-view) mirrors are present. There is a front (painted) bumper and no rear bumper. Hubcaps are non-GM (one is missing). Drivetrain: The engine and transmission are not original to the truck however they are both GMC/Chevrolet items. The engine is a newer (year unknown) 235 c.i. that appears to have been rebuilt. It runs well. The transmission is a 4-speed with the “granny” low gear that works and shifts well. The differential is a modern (year unknown) GMC/Chevrolet 12 Bolt replacement for the original. (Gear ratio unknown). It matches and runs/works well with the engine/transmission. Clutch engages/disengages properly. Brakes (lining age unknown) work properly. Electrical: The truck retains the original 6-volt system. Age of the battery is unknown. The dash gauges respond however accuracy is unknown. The factory front turn signals are replaced by period correct fender-mounted aftermarket ones and work properly. There is no license plate light and the rear brake/marker/signal lights function properly. Headlights work (regular and bright). Legal: The truck is currently licensed and has a clear Iowa title in the owner’s name. It can be transferred with a signature and has no liens or debts against it. It will be the buyer’s responsibility to pick-up or arrange transport of truck once the auction is over. Seller offers no warranty or guarantee with sale of the truck. It is an “As Is” sale and the buyer’s responsibility to evaluate and accept the truck as described and photographed. By bidding on this item you accept the responsibility of a legal contract to pay for and remove the truck within seven (7) days of the auction ending (unless other arrangements are made prior to bidding). Payment is to be a cashier’s check (drawn on a major bank), cash upon picking up the truck or a USPS Money Order. The highest bid (above the Reserve) is a binding contract to pay for and remove the truck. Location: The truck is located in St. George, Utah. Driving access is via I-15 (SW corner of Utah) about 90 minutes north of Las Vegas. Flying access would be Las Vegas airport and St. George Shuttle (airport parking lot-$29.95) up to St. George. There are a number of private vehicle hauling companies (internet) that can give you quotes for transportation of the GMC. The Bottom Line: This is a nice truck. It can be driven right now. It has a number of cosmetic issues (please see pics) and “little things that might bother you” that can be dealt with should the buyer want to take its condition “up to the next level”. The truck is 60 years old and a bidder/buyer should not lose touch with that when evaluating it for purchase. I want you happy with your purchase so ask questions, look at the pictures a hundred times and read the description until you’ve got it memorized. You’re looking at a nice ole’ Jimmy! Please call Chris at 435-669-1470 and I would be happy to be of service. Good luck and Good Bidding.
