Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE For sale is an 1988 Mazda 323 GTX. This car was running great when it was left sitting about 5 years ago. Currently however, it does not run. I recently tried to get it running, but was unsuccessful. Most likely, the very little fuel that was left in the car has gone stale. I am not sure of what other problems may exist, but again, it was in perfect running order when it was left to sit about 5 years ago. That being said, almost every body panel on this car is straight with very little rust. With the exception of a dent that sits right behind the drivers door (see pictures). I am confident that this would make a wonderful project or parts car for someone who is interested, unfortunately, I just do not have the time to spend to get it running again. The following is some info/specs for the Mazda 323 GTX: The Mazda 323 GTX was a limited-production hatchback produced in the late 1980s. Less than 1,300 were sold in the United States between 1988 and 1989. This compact hatchback boasted a turbocharged engine, all-wheel-drive and other performance tweaks; essentially, the 323 GTX was a detuned rally-racing car. EngineThe 323 GTX had a four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. It displaced only 1.6 liters but had a turbocharger and intercooler that bumped it to 132 horsepower. Despite its size, fuel efficiency was rated at 15 miles per gallon city, 22 miles per gallon highway and the engine required premium gasoline. Drivetrain The 323 GTX came with all-wheel-drive that included a lockable differential. The all-wheel-drive system allowed the engine power to be put to the ground through all four wheels, and with the differential locked, the car could even quickly scrabble through loose surfaces such as gravel or dirt. The transmission was a standard five-speed manual transmission. Dimensions The 323 GTX had a curb weight of 2,645 lbs distributed 61/39 front to rear. Its wheelbase was just 94.5 inches, the track (distance between the wheels) was 55.1 inches in front and 66.1 inches in the rear, the overall length was 161.8 inches, the width was 64.8 inches, and the height was 54.9 inches. The 323 GTX had two doors and a rear hatch, and seated four. Suspension and brakes The suspension was composed of MacPherson struts and an anti-roll bar in front and struts with lateral and trailing links and an anti-roll bar in the rear. The brakes were 10.2-inch vented discs in front and 9.7-inch solid discs in back. This vehicle was previously posted on eBay's classifieds, but I received so many offers that I decided to list it as a public auction so that everyone has a fair chance to purchase it. Given the high performance and limited production of this vehicle, I am unsure of its value. However, given the low mileage of the engine, turbo, and transmission of the vehicle, I am sure that this vehicle could be of great interest to the right buyer. So, the bidding will start at $500 with no reserve. Thank you for looking! Click on the pictures to make them bigger. On Mar-31-11 at 16:54:36 PDT, seller added the following information: There are two things that I would like to mention that I didn't remember to note in the original post. First, being that this is a car that has sat outside for several years, this car does not have a new car smell. The smell is nothing repulsive, but I just felt that I should make a note of this so that the future owner has no regrets when coming to pick the vehicle up. Second, I currently cannot find the keys to the vehicle. While there is a chance that I will find them before the auction ends, any bidders should assume that the vehicle will come without keys. Thank you for your time and interest, Jesse
