Vehicle Detail

1940 Oldsmobile (2 Door coupe 90 series) Straight 8, 3 speed manual The following work has been done to this vehicle: Engine: Block tanked and magnafluxed, New cam bearings, new piston rings, new main and rod bearings. New spark plugs, points and condenser, and new wires. New water pump. Starter and generator rebuilt. New vacuum advance. New water hoses for radiator, heater and heater under driver’s seat. New fuel pump. New timing gear and chain. Currently have electric fuel pump mounted outside gas tank (Pusher type), Still running through fuel pump. New voltage regulator. Horn (trumpet type ) works. Radiator flushed and pressure checked. New hoses.Transmission…removed, cleaned and checked bearings and gears. No issues. Shifts smoothly and runs quiet. New clutch plate and carbon release bearing installed.Exhaust system…new from manifold pipe to tail pipe.Gas tank…Removed, cleaned and sealed with Kanter’s fuel tank sealer. Tires…(5) new Koker wide white wall tires and 5 new tubes. (5) new wheels (15 inch original size for this model 40 Olds. (5 new baby moon hub caps and beauty ings)Brakes…New brake lines and all wheel cylinders rebuilt. Brake shoes good. New wheel bearings on front (inner and outer) plus grease seals. Master cylinder rebuilt. Rear end…Removed axle, cleaned and inspected all bearings. 392 gears.Drive shaft universal joints replaced. Front suspension…Rebuilt using Kanter kit (Except coil springs , they were good). Front end aligned.Body work…Removed front clip and rear fenders and trunk lid. Lifted body to replace spacer pads. The only welding necessary on this vehicle was the drivers rocker panel. The floor front and back and trunk were in excellent condition. Exceptionally solid. Frame has no signs of rust. Normal dents and dings on front fenders and rear fenders. No rust through. Stripped entire body to metal. 3 coats acrylic enamel. All glass replaced along with weather stripping runners for glass. Interior stripped. Applied heat shield padding to roof. Headliner, seats, door panels, carpeting all professionally made. I installed(Gray in color). New door sills (exact replicas). Chrome…Front and rear bumpers and grill guard re-chromed(excellent quality). All stainless is in great condition. The only items not re-chromed are wiper eustations and the 5 grill bars on front section. Just never got around to it. The hood ornament was re-chromed. Even have the OLDS emblem on the front grill section. Wipers work but are vacuum and I consider them pretty much worthless. Wiper vacuum motor is new. License plate and tail light assemble re-chromed.Trunk floor is exceptionally solid. Currently have black carpeting but needs completed. Tire hold down bracket included. Trunk hold up brackets function as they should. I also have fender skirts that go with the vehicle. Items that need attention…Tank has new sending unit but does not appear to be working. I have rewired the car but not with original harness wiring. Always intended to but never got around to it. Rear seal on transmission tail shaft leaking. Probably dry from little use. I am selling because I want to purchase a fair size tractor with front loader AND no I don’t think I want to entertain trade. Vehicle is currently licensed with antique tags. I would recommend trailering, however it is drivable, but I have never had it farther than 20 miles from the house. It has clear Maryland title. Speedometer reads 27038 but I cannot be certain of mileage. From the condition of the vehicle when I purchased it, it could be actual mileage and the condition the engine was in, would indicate it probably is original mileage. This vehicle was stored inside a tractor trailer for many years. That’s probably reason for excellent condition of floors, frame and body. I do not have the stone guards of rear fenders. There is one small (1.5 inches) crease near the gas tank filler lid. It is very minor. I can trailer up to 100 miles for agreed upon price. Original radio , has power but working. Has wind up clock but overwound. I have electric clok which I will include to buyer. I can provide more pictures if needed. Car is currently sitting up on wooden blocks. i do this to keep tire off of the concrete floor during Winter. In the pictures the car appears Black. It is midnight blue metalic (85 Ford color) In sunlight it is a little lighter. You can contact me at 410-610-7932.
