Vehicle Detail

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to view my auction. VERY RARE Vintage 1972 VW Double Sliding Doors Panel Bus. This is a California Bus, just about rust free. Very solid, original! This VW Bus has the matching number original 1750cc completely stock engine starts right up does not smoke or leak any oil and has great power! Transmission is in great working condition, very quiet & no popping out of any gears, the wiring is all original and has not been changed, everything works, including the fuel gauge, horn and the heater. Tires are in great shape, close to new, good battery. Recent work completed: Replaced all the rubber hoses on engine and fuel lines & vent hoses, new brake master cylinder, new brake lines, brakes work perfectly as well as the power brake booster, new fuel pump, new engine to body seal, new wiper blades, new original style seat covers, new carpet, 2 spares, the original VW key fits all the locks including ignition, this bus has a very level stance, most old buses are sagging in the rear, not this bus!! Drives very close to new, very tight feeling when driving. This bus could use the following: Body work and paint,( has dings and dents) windshield has a crack or 2, The only rust through that I could find is a small hole in the original battery tray and someone had repaired a small hole under the front mat drivers side. This is an incredibly solid body, it will not take much to do a complete restoration. This would make a very cool bus to promote your business or just a great vehicle that will continue to go up in value in the years to come!!! Owning an older VW, you will find that so many people will come up to you and tell you their VW stories and ask questions about your VW, it’s like having a new family of friends. In 1964 President Johnson enacted the “Chicken tax” on Germany. Germany raised the taxes on imported U.S. Chickens so the President increased the tax on importing utility vehicles which made very few VW Panel Buses & VW Pickup Trucks imported because of the higher import taxes. The only ones that made to the United States were special ordered and much more costly. Long story short…. There are very few of these VW Panel buses in existence and the Double Sliding Door buses are rarely ever seen! I found this information on the internet!I've been a VW mechanic and have done many complete restorations for over 35 years in Southern California and currently still do customer repair. I purchased this bus for a client and he could not secure the funds so I do not have the time to complete it. I think this is a incredible deal because of the rarity of this model VW, this is a great investment and will only go up in value in the future! If you are in the Southern California area you are welcome to come and look it over and take it for a drive. If you have any questions please email or call; 619-275-0077
