mkhitech store 1984 Honda Sabre VF700S - Very Nice! - Ready to go! Prev Stop Play Next Note: Please read the section entitled "Notes to buyers" before bidding. This auction is for a very nice 1984 Honda Sabre VF700S. There aren't many out there as top shelf as this one and it's ready to be ridden anywhere. I owned one of these new and since then have had a few of them. The VF700S is still one of the best all around bikes ever. It can do some touring, handle curves pretty well, has plenty of power, and is very comfortable to ride. I like the Sabre so much that it has been somewhat of an on and off again hobby to find one to restore, or at least make it a very nice and reliable daily rider. This particular bike probably falls somewhere in the middle. As can be seen in the pictures, I pretty much took the bike down to the frame and worked from there. I wanted to make sure things were done right so the whole process took a few months and only genuine Honda parts were used. The bike started out in pretty good shape including the engine and mechanicals so there wasn't much to do there. The list of updates/maintenance is as follows:Replaced/flushed all fluids (brake, clutch hydraulic, oil, coolant, differential/shaft drive)Forks professionally rebuilt using genuine Honda seals and wipersInstalled genuine Honda oil filterInstalled brand new Dunlop D404 tires front and rearInstalled new genuine Honda front brake padsInstalled factory spec NGK spark plugsReplaced regulator/rectifier with modern high quality unit (no headlight dimming at idle!)Replaced speedometer/tach rubber sealsReplaced grips with Grab On foam grips (very nice product by the way)Replaced clutch hand lever with genuine Honda part (old one had some paint wear)Installed new rear turn signals to keep things looking niceReplaced the carb spacers with brand new genuine Honda partsHad the carbs professionally rebuilt General cleaning, touch up and polish Included with the bike is an original Honda factory service manual, owner's manual, a Clymers manual, cover, and an original (yes, from 1984) sales brochure for the VF700S. Also included are all receipts and a few extra parts such as electrical, speedometer rubber, and extra Honda fluids (only Honda oil should ever be used in these bikes). One item that crops up with the VF700S Sabre as they age is that they many times get what feels like a flat spot or hesitation between 5,000 and 6,000 RPM. This was due to an emissions change Honda had to make that resulted in very small mid-range jets that clogged easily. This bike does not have that problem. It was taken care of during the carb rebuild by replacing the mid jet with one that is slightly larger which has an added benefit of better throttle response and cooler engine operation. This is a very good running bike and it rides beautifully. I like treating people as I would like to be treated when looking at purchasing something, especially a vehicle so I like to be as accurate as possible. There are a few small items such as a couple small scratches on each side of the tank, and a very light scratch on the right exhaust pipe. There is also one small item that needs to be worked through. When the engine is good and warmed up sometimes the idle will take about 4-5 seconds to return to normal, say when pulling up to a traffic light. Other than that everything works as advertised and the bike moves along very smoothly. I'm still amazed at how smooth these bikes are. They put many new bikes to shame in this regard. The bike is also for sale locally so the auction could be ended at any time. I will gladly work with a transport company should the winning bidder hire a transport company, but the buyer is responsible for making all arrangements with the transporter.
