Vehicle Detail
1979 toyota hilux pickup truck. this is a one of a kind truck. custom safari style button down soft top that can be rolled up or removed completely. it fits tight, ive driven it in high winds and rain with no problems.3 inch lift with like new bf goodrich 33 10.50 all terrains. power steering. i scrapped the stock 20r and upgraded to a 1981 22r which is the maintenance free double roller timing chain setup with metal guides unlike the later years. then added a weber 32/36 carb with manual choke, which starts on the coldest of mornings, in the teens with just the pull of the choke. it also has an offenhauser intake, and flexlite flexfan with lc engineering adapter to replace the clutch fan. it has a complete tune up and runs great. it could use a little carb tuning as it runs a little rich and idles a little fast but it doesnt hurt anything. long tube headers. it does have one stripped exhaust stud but its an easy fix with a helicoil. theres no exhaust leak, it doesnt affect anything as is. and i got rid of the weak stock L43 4 speed and swapped in a W56 5 speed with matching top shifter transfer case out of a 1988 fuel injected truck. its mounted using a bud built custom crossmember which offers more ground clearance and a removable skid plate. the weak stock heater was scrapped and i installed a heatercraft 3 speed heater which works great, i have a 3 speed switch under the dash, and water shutoff valves under the hood for summer. i need to install defrosters, i have 2 electric ones that go with it, i wanted to mount them under the dash but havent gotten to it. it also needs the reverse lights hooked up after the transmission swap, the plug was different, you can either find one on ebay or just wire it to a toggle switch under the dash which i was gonna do for simplicity, i also installed a wise brand folding adjustable back rear seat, and i removed the lower front valance and trimmed the front of the fenders for installing a marlin crawler style tube bumper but never got the bumper. most of the pics are before that trimming and installing the back seat, but i included a pic i just took so you can see. i wasnt planning on selling this truck but things came up. it has a clear title and wv inpection good until next month. i also have a heavy duty reciever hitch i will include. the truck is painted kyrlon rattle can ultra flat khaki for simplicity and cheap easy fixing. it could use some touchups, and the cab interior needs some finishing work, the custom aluminum door panels need painted and the inside cab needs some sanding and painting finished, no big deal at all. this truck isnt perfect by any means but for a 30 year old daily driver this is a solid truck that i wouldnt hesitate to drive anywhere. ive tried to list eveything as accurately as possible. this is a very fun, one of a kind, totally unique project with tons of potential you can finish as you drive it to work and the trail. it turns heads everywhere. and it also has custom quick release door hinges so you can remove the doors by just pulling pins, and ill include an extra set of door side hinges for attaching to tube doors if you have some to work with the setup among some other odds and ends i have. . i also have a set of daves offroad performance tube doors being shipped to me right now. i ordered them awhile back and they are finally complete, the compnay notified me they are shipped and sent me an ups tracking number to verify and track them. they should arrive by the time this auction ends and will be included with the truck. and please dont email me with lowball offers. i relisted this truck at the absolute minimum i can take, im taking a huge loss at this, my starting price is more than fair. all the expensive work has been done to this truck, all thats left is minor details. update, ive been tracking the tube doors and it just says a label has been made but hasnt offered any further info, i dont think they will arrive by this weekend, but when they do arrive they go with the truck. i have no control over when they will be here though, but when i get them they are the winning bidders. update on tube doors, the tracking label was created the 18th but it hasnt been updated once even saying they have been picked up, so as of now i cant say they will be included in the auction becuase im starting to wonder if im even going to get them. i ordered them back in january, and i will never order from daves offroad performance again ever. all i can say is if i get them ill pass them along to the winning bidder, but keep in mind thats IF i get them no guarentees. i will pass on the tracking number to the winning bidder to keep track of for themselves too., ill never buy from daves offroad performace again, 240 dollars spent months ago and im still wondering where my doors are.
