1949 Willys Jeepster Phaeton convertible. I have owned this vehicle since 1976. Started working on it in 1978. It has been garaged ever since. I have worked on it over the years and have rebuilt or replaced about everything. I will describe as best I can what was done to the vehicle. I have not put 500 miles on the vehicle since I have had it. Engine was replaced with a rebuilt one. I recently replaced the valves, valve springs and Camshaft as it had tapping noise. All external parts to engine such as starter, generator, water pump dist. all replaced or rebuilt. New voltage regulator…Radiator was pressure checked and no leaks. Transmission disassembled, replaced front and rear bearings and slide gear. Overdrive unit cleaned and new OD selanoid and rail switch. Drive shaft inner parts replaced. Rear axle seals replaced. …Brakes, Rebuilt all wheel cylinders but recently replaced left front and left rear with new units. New master cylinder and recently disassembled cleaned. Recently cleaned all brake lines. Could use new brake lining. …Front end, new tie rod ends, new king pins, and drag link inner parts replaced. Steering tight and steers easily. New shocks front and back. New exhaust system, front to back however this was many years ago but no leaks currently. ….Top is vinly and in goop condition. One of the latches needs replaced. I believe I have one that goes with the vehicle. Seats were upholstered by professional shop and are close to Navy Blue. Boot and tire cover are canvas. Has carpeting but it could stand replacing. I replaced years ago but it has gotten dirty over years from sitting. Inner door panels are the original but have been sprayed black. Speed o meter reads 2,234 but I replaced the old unit as it was defective. No way of knowing the actual mileage. Original type jeepster radio is installed but not working. It needs dial knobs as well. Has new antenna……Exterior is Fire Engine RED acrylic enamel with Blue trim, similar in color to the interior. Hood chrome was re chromed by Paul’s chrome. Other stainless is all in good condition and I believe all parts are there. It has spotlight but needs new bulb. Has fogg lights which are in working cond. Has license plate holder brackets in front. …..Tires (5) new whitewall tires and tubes many years ago. They have no wear but are showing signs of dry checking. (5) new Correct hub caps. Has stainless beauty rings all 5 wheels….Windshield and vent window and rear window glass replaced along with new rubber on windshield. The rear glass has since cracked. If I were replacing I would use plexiglass (More flexible). There are some scratches and chips on the paint , but overall the paint is in good condition. The frame is extremely solid and has no signs of rust….Gas tank was replaced 15 years ago. Within last two years I removed and thoroughly cleaned and sealed using Kanter’s gas tank kit (Great product). Currently the vehicle has a pusher electric fuel pump outside the gas tank. The manual fuel pump (DUAL) was replaced but is extremely slow in bring fuel up when vehicle sits for long periods…This is the original 6 volt system..Now for the needs work stuff: The engine has blown a head gasket twice between the 3rd and 4th cylinder. There are no signs of cracks so it must have a low or high spot that I cannot detect with naked eye. The engine is not ceased but I have drained all oil and antifreeze from the vehicle. I think for minimal investment this engine can be machined and would provide good service since other major components are new. I made some minor floor repairs on the passengers side but otherwise a very solid vehicle. I do not think you will be disappointed especially at the price. I can provide additional PIX if necessary and will answer any questions as best I can. Vehicle must be towed or trailered. I can trailer within 100 miles for agreed upon price. Clear Maryland title
