You are bidding on a numbers matching 1979 Chevrolet Corvette with only 9300 miles (looks like the plastic was just pulled off the inside). This car is fantastic condition and everything works. This car has NEVER been wrecked!!!! This Corvette was built in August of 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri; it came from the factory in a beautiful gloss black with Oyster Leather interior (the seats are still super soft). It came equipped with 350 engine and an automatic transmission. This car was completely loaded (power brakes, power steering, tilt/telescopic steering, power windows, power locks, rear defroster, air conditioning, AM/FM/CB radio, factory theft alarm, t-tops, cruise) The car runs and drives new, everything works right down to the CB Radio and the engine bay light. This corvette was one of the last 3500 built and actually had 1980 tach and speedometer installed in the dash. It is 1 of 4438 that came with the AM/FM/CB radio. There were 53,807 Corvettes built in 1979 and only 10,465 came in Black, 9316 of them came with Oyster Leather. The interior of this car is in fantastic shape, all the way down to the original floor mats. There is only one small place on the drivers door panel (as seen in photo). The paint on this car is mostly original (top of car), the sides have been repainted because like all old vettes that are original, you could see impressions of the bonding strips on the fenders and quarters. All of the paint still has a deep shine on it. There are very few minor paint chips on this car. The miles on this car are correct and there is paperwork to document it, there is also a photo of the Ohio DMV website where this car vin is listed showing the documented owners and the mileage each time it was changed over. The man that owned this car before me bought it from Pioneer Chevrolet with only 3359 miles on it (January 29, 1996). This car has been kept in a garage for the last 20 years and judging how nice it is underneath.....it has been stored inside all its life. It still has the original Corvette Keychain from the dealer. Everything on this car is ORIGINAL, the previous owner put a chrome air breather cover and chrome brake fluid cover on it to dress it up some. The car is for sale locally and is stored inside. I have done my best to describe this vehicle but cannot make or express any type of guarantee The 1979 Corvette The 1979 Chevrolet Corvette was a much smaller change from the last year. The standard seats are now the lighter weight and taller version that was introduced on the pace car in '78. The passenger seat now folds flat to the level of the cargo area. The bolt-on spoilers from the '78 pace car were now available as an option. These reduced drag by approximately 15%. Both the base and L82 engines now use a dual snorkel intake to add 5 horsepower to the base engine. The L82 engine option has a higher lift cam, special heads with larger valves and higher compression, impact-extruded pistons, a forged steel crankshaft, and finned aluminum rocker covers. These improvements added another 10 horsepower to the L82 engine. Some late 1979 models were "upgraded" to the new 85 MPH speedometer that would be standard on the 1980 models. The automatic transmission equipped models had the rear gear ratio changed to 3.55:1. This was the last year for the "Corvette" named colors. Corvette Black Book says the 85 mph speedo was required by law on the 80 models and was installed on some late build 79s. The "Vehicle Identification Number" (also VIN or serial number) is stamped on a plate on the inner vertical surface of the left windshield pillar visible through the windshield.
