Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car in Oregon last year from its second owner. I flew there and drove the Starion 3700 miles back to Maryland. It ran great and averaged 25mpg on the way back. Since getting it home I have added a 3" KDM exhaust with Magnaflow muffler, new pads on all four corners, new rear slotted rotors, new rear calipers, one new parking brake cable and a multitude of other parts to get the car in top mechanical shape. The tires were also just replaced and have less than 5k miles. The motor runs great and does not burn or leak any oil or coolant. It was rebuilt around 20k miles ago. The rebuild included a non-jet valve head, balance shaft elimination kit and other parts typical in a motor rebuild. Water pump, oil pump, new injectors, etc.. The motor is mostly stock to ensure reliability, but it does have a few upgrades. A Summit Racing ignition was installed along with a 3" intake pipe, hks fuel cut defencer and a turbo xs manual boost controller. Manual transmission shifts smoothly. I would recommend a clutch in the future. Does not slip if you drive sensibly, but I will include a lightened 225mm flywheel and a clutch with the car. The body of the Starion is in nice shape for its age. Factory sunroof car. It does have a few door dings, chips and some scratches in the paint throughout the body, but it is very straight and has no rust. The hood is in excellent condition, one of the nicest I have seen. Tail lights are also very clean. The metal front airdam is complete, but needs some work. The airdam is the only part on the exterior of the car that really needs work in my opinion. Overall the exterior is in very good condition for having the original paint. Interior shows wear here and there, but I think that is expected with a car that is almost 30 years old. There are no major rips or tears on the seats, but they do show their age. I have replaced some of the gray interior panels with better condition black panels I had laying around. The dash is in very good shape along with the steering wheel. The carpet does have some stains, but the floor mats cover most of them. Digital dash is in excellent condition. An aftermarket boost gauge and oil pressure gauge were also added on the a-pillar. The Starion has new Kyb struts on all four corners with the stock springs. A new idler arm was installed 10k miles ago. The steering has some play, but it's not bad. Aftermarket 16" wheels were installed to replace the stock wheels. This is a really nice example of an '83 Starion, but i should point out a few flaws: 1. Cruise control stopped working as I was driving across the country. 2. The windshield wipers do not reset to their original position if you turn them off while they're at the top of the windshield. 3. All components of the air conditioning system have been removed. 4. Most of the emissions equipment has been removed. 5. Both rear quarter windows were spray tinted and don't look very good. 6. There is one crack on the hvac panel about 1" long. 7. The stock oil pressure gauge is unhooked because the aftermarket oil pressure gauge sender is located in its place. Although the car needs some minor cosmetic work, it is still really nice for a car of its age. I described the car to the best of my knowledge, but if you have any questions or want to see the car in person, please contact me. Thanks for looking.
