Go ahead and admit it. You have always wanted one of these quirky, cute , and increasinly rare Volkwagen Things! Actually, this one is is a 1971 which makes it even more rare. A little history for you.....The VW Thing was made from 1970 - 1979 in Mexico and they were only imported into the United States on 1973 and 1974. This VW Thing (called a Safari in the rest of the world), lived in Mexico (hence the speedo is in km/h) until brought into Texas in the U.S. and now titled in Florida. You can only imagine how much fun this VW Thing is to drive and more important it's been taken care of so it is very reliable. These cars are very rare, even more so in this great condition, and they are becoming increasingly harder to find. You can drive this VW Thing fully enclosed or within minutes you can be on the beach with no top, no doors, the windsheild folded down and enjoying the breeze. It has approximately 1200km on a professionally rebuilt motor with 87mm pistons, new case, crank, carburetor, alternator, fuel tank, ect. rebuilt wiper motor, and plenty of new "Thing" parts. It has a rebuilt transmission with a freeway flyer 4th. It also has it's original reduction gears which are not found on US models. The interior is in good condition, the top and windows are barely used. The tires are goog with chrome wheels. This VW Thing is ready to go and dependable enough to be a daily driver!!
