Vehicle Detail

I have up for auction this extremely clean 1952 Chevrolet panel delivery truck I believe to be a 3100 series model. I am selling this for a friend who has owned for about 10 years. My friend purchased it as you see it from a local auto museum here in Sacramento back in 2001. At that time the odometer was at zero and is now at approximately 8400 miles. What I have been told is that it had been mechanically retro fitted with a 350 V8 with Throttle Body Injection and a 350 transmission. The numbers on the front of the block are as follows: First line: V1222FLL Second line: CHJ 132979 The front suspension was replaced with a Mustang II system and it has a Ford 9" rear end. Other changes include conversion to a 12 volt electrical system and the installation of a Buick tilt steering column, updated heater system, power steering and power disc brakes. All the work was done at a local hot rod shop and it appears that it was done well as my friend has had no major problems with it and has used it locally as a delivery vehicle for his antique business. I'm told by the owners it has a history of being used as an ambulance but there are no emergency lights or other equipment on the truck. This would be a great panel for someone who doesn't want to do a full ground up restoration and it is still original enough in appearence that if you wanted to personalize it you could go either way ie original or custom. Or if you want a unique old truck that you can just get in and drive then this is a good choice. The engine fires right up and runs strong, tranny shifts great, handles nice, I did not notice any leaks on my driveway while I had it here for photo's. Brakes work great, all the exterior lights and the dash lights work but the interior cab light does not work and there doesn't seem to be a dash turn signal lighting set up since the steering column conversion but all the turn signal lights flash as they should on the outside. The original dash cluster is intact and the gauges all appear to work but I would guess that the speedo is not calibrated to the updated drivetrain but it and the odometer function with no problems. Heater works great but there is no sound system and the original radio does no work. I tested the horn and the windshield wipers and they work fine. The body seems real solid. I did not find any signs of major or minor repair work. Paint has minor chips here and there but no dents and no rot that I could find. The original emblems on the front fenders look there age but the rest of the chrome is in beautiful shape. All the glass is in great shape. The interior dash is nice, not all scratched and beat up like some trucks of this vintage. It has the original bucket seats with a third original bucket seat (jumper seat) mounted behind the driver's seat. All of the seats are upholstered in a period correct brown tweed and are in great shape. The side wall panels could use replacing as some of them are broken and missing pieces. http://s916.photobucket.com/albums/ad7/sacto59r/1952%20Chevy%20Panel/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaMwfTKTZT4&feature=youtube_gdata I have included a photobucket link so I could show more angles of the truck. I have now also included a You Tube link showing the truck in action so that bidders can get a better feel of what they are bidding on. We've never done this before so bare with us as you watch the video. This is now a NO RESERVE auction. The owner needs to sell and move on and, at this starting bid, is making it a real bargain. You cannot buld this truck for this price period! Please feel free to ask questions or if you need a certain shot of something I will try to accomodate as time allows. The owner has no interest in any trades as he has bought a newer vehicle already and this is the reason why the panel is being sold. Truck is sold as is/where is. Buyer is responsible for arranging transport if not picking it up in person. A 1000.00 deposit is due with 48 hours after end of auction. Vehicle must be paid for in full and be removed from my premises within 10 days after the end of auction. I will work with a transport company and their schedule if need be as I understand that transport companys are not always able to work within a 10 day time frame. Thanks for looking! I had some additional questions about rust and the wooden floorboards in the back so I have added some additonal photo's to the photo bucket account. Although it may be difficult to decipher, the first 10 photo's in the folder are the undersides of the front and rear fenders to show there is not rot. The additional floorboard photo's are after that. Last night I posted an answer to a question regarding the condition of the tires. While the tires appear to be in good shape. I would guestimate that they are as old as the restoration and I would recommend their being replaced before doing any long distance or high speed driving for the sake of erring on the side of safety. The current tire size front and back is 235-75-15.
