Vehicle Detail
Dependable Volvo 240 Sedan. Bought in 1994 from original owner with 58,750 miles, we have added about 100,000. Until family got large enough to require a minivan, it was our regular transportation and never gave us any trouble. Still runs very strong, has good acceleration and shifts smoothly. Clutch was replaced about 1 1/2 years ago (less than 5000 miles since then). Good brakes, tires have some tread. Complete set of Gislaved snow tires on rims - haven't been used in a few years. Nice Kenwood radio and CD player with detachable faceplate. Full set of winter rubber floor mats. Exterior metal and paint in very good condition except for small touch up areas on hood. Odometer stopped working at 154,278 miles and was replaced (in photos). Upholstery in very good condition - no rips or stains. AC works fine. Car has never been in any kind of accident and has never been smoked in. Current inspection sticker. Things we haven't fixed - ABS light is on. Fuel gauge is not working - we used the trip odometer instead. There is an intermittent squeal from the driver's side front wheel. Heated seats do not always work. Fan motor for heat and defrost has squeal when first turned on. Map pockets are broken, as usual. Car is in very good shape for a 19 year old vehicle, and is reliable transportation, but is not perfect. Sold as is.On Feb-19-11 at 16:17:05 PST, seller added the following information: I took the car in for an alignment today (I had a 3 year plan and figured I might as well get it done for the buyer). So I got a good look at it while it was up on the lift. The underbody is very solid. There is a small area of surface rust on the rocker panel directly behind the driver's side wheel (about 1 1/2" x 1" and 1" x 3"). The driver's side rear trailing arm (which supports the rear spring) should be replaced - the part is about $110 on the web. I also took it through a car wash and there were no leaks from any of the windows. Car owner's manual and Kenwood CD player owner's manual are in glove box. Also in glove box is the Volvo maintenance records book with most of the service intervals stamped. Looking back at the records, recent work includes clutch (156K), front and rear shocks and bushings, front brake pads and rotors, rear rotors (153K), timing belt and right front ball joint (148K), thermostat (143K), and left front ball joint (138K).
