Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my fathers 1965 chevrolet impala ss convertible. It was originally a 327 with a power glide but those were both replaced with a mid 70's 350 motor and 350 trans when it was restored many years ago. The restoration is an older one, but the car has been well stored since. It is a real super sport and Regal Red with black top and black interior are the original colors. The car is well optioned with power top, power windows, power steering and air conditioning. The A/C is no longer hooked up, but an original style copressor is included and condensor is still in the car, really just need lines and brackets. It has manual drum brakes and the exhaust has old school thrush turbo mufflers, has a fairly quiet low throaty tone. The top end of the motor was freshend up a couple of years ago with a new edelbrock cam and carb, as well as new timing set. The ignition was upgraded to a newer HEI style. The tires were also replaced at this time. This car only gets drivin a few times a year. One parade, one car show, and when it goes to get inspected. The only thing that didn't seem to work the last time out was the temp guage. The car runs, drives, stops all just fine. Power top and windows all work. The car was restored years ago for a guys wife and has small roses etched into the astro vent windows and the rear glass window. The paint still looks great and only has a couple of small bubbles at the corners of the doors, it definitley needs to be polished. The doors, fenders and hood don't seem as shinny as they used to be. If you are out of state not sure how it works. In New York cars 1971 and older don't have titles - The registration is transferable. This is a really beautiful car. He has had it for about 10 years. It just isn't being enjoyed like it should, he has 2 other classics and this was his 3rd. If you have any questions just ask and I will find out the answers as fast as I can. I can also try to take specific pictures if needed. This car is also listed locally so ad can end at any time. Buyer pays all shipping costs. For sale to USA only!!! Adeposit of $1000. is due within 2 days of end of auction. When the remaining funds are received then you can get car, not before. The TAR = Tarrytown, NY. The TR 815 = Black Vinyl bucket interior for SS. The R-2 = Regal Red paint - Black top. The Acc options E X2 K M. -E = Tinted Glass, -X2= ?, -K = Air Conditioning, -M = Powerglide TransOn Feb-14-11 at 09:25:44 PST, seller added the following information:Ok over 40 new pictures taken today of underside of car. Cant fit them up on here so anybody who wants to see them send me your email adress and I will send them to You. I spent a half an hour under there and it looks like all original floor and trunk pans. There are NO rot holes or patches, and back when this was restored there was no replacement parts catalogs 20 years ago. The only patch I could find was next to the battery on the passenger side front wheel well. There is minimal surface rust and any thing that looks like its peeling away in the pictures is 20+ year old under coating. The body mounts look dry but intact and all the mounting points are NOT rotted. My father says he did the brakes and a couple of steering components last year. The suspension is whatever he got the car with 10 years ago. My father is a 40+ year mechanic, he takes care of his cars. I want to let every one know that when I was under there I noticed a few bubbles in the paint in front of both rear wheel well openings at the very bottom of the car like the ones one the corners of the doors. I took close ups of them as well. Thanks everybody
