Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1930 Packard Model 726 Light Eight sedan chassis. Wheelbase is 127.5" and motor number is 279448. As you can see from the photos most of the body and chassis are rotted through. What is extant and usable is the complete drivetrain from the motor to the rear end as well as brake and suspension and Bijur parts. The motor is complete minus the starter, generator and Bijur pump. I have removed the intake/exhaust manifold and the carburetor which are included and pictured towards the end of the series of photographs. Please note that the carb and manifold have all the related hard to find original fittings and linkages. The radiator core is complete and undamaged. You also have the engine assembly and guts including a good water pump and fan, head, block, etc etc. The top of the hood is still present and has its center hinge and there are two hood retainers which are still good as well as a third spare for parts. The motor is still mated to the original FOUR speed transmission which still shifts freely, which goes on to the driveshaft and rear end. The optional (Buffalo?) wire wheels appear rebuildable but I am not too familiar with wires so I will leave bidders to look at the photographs. I believe that if they are Buffalos the correct Packad-specific hubs are the real value there. The 5" hubcaps are very rare and the three remaining ones appear to be reusable. You can see from the photographs that the brake drums appear to be in good condition as are backing plates and other related components. The front axle is still rock solid as are the leaf springs and other suspension components. Also interestingly the Bijur system (minus the pump as mentioned) is still in place. All the (copper?) piping is undisturbed and all the junctions are still present which are quite costly to replace, if you can find them. The cowl and firewall are ruined but you can see from the dash photos all the ornate chromed bezels around the gauges as well as the gauge cluster itself are still extant. You can also see the Bijur handle reading "Pull Daily" as well as the cast aluminum floorboard, petal assemblies and brake lever. There is also a rear trunk rack, front and rear bumpers, driver's side runningboard with all the original aluminum fittings in beautiful shape. There is also a driver's side Depress Beam headlamp minus lens and bezel as well as the mounting for the two headlights. There are also a lot more miscellaneous pieces I have not mentioned as well as plenty of sheet metal for patterns if needed. The reserve on this car is very low- somewhere around the approximate value of the carburetor and intake setup. Please look at the photos carefully and email questions or phone me prior to bidding. Area code 860, 690-9630. Reasonable offers will be considered but the car is not sold until I have cash in hand. $200 PayPal deposit required after auction end. This Packard is located in Birmingham, AL and I will be happy to help organize local shipping if the car is traveling in the Southeast. Thanks for viewing and good luck! On Feb-07-11 at 13:13:03 PST, seller added the following information: Please note as I am selling this Packard primarily for parts it will be sold on a Bill of Sale. If you require a registration I can get that sorted out but please contact me in advance of bidding. Thanks!
