Vehicle Detail
This really is a nice old (26 years) Jeep that you can get in and drive anywhere. I drove it this week during and after the "Great Blizzard of 2011". Wednesday morning the wind chill was -22F. The Jeep had sat out all night and started right up. The heater, defroster and 4x4 works EXCELLENT!! Intermittant wipers are a big plus in snowy wet weather. I bought this 1985 Jeep CJ7 Laredo from a customer of mine a couple of weeks ago. He owned it several years and over that time period he put quite a bit of money into it. It has new seats and seat belts, a new stereo, new tires and wheels, new mirrors, new brakes (including front disc rotors and calipers), new shocks, new belts and hoses, a new carburetor and a bunch of other stuff. When I got it, the rear main was leaking pretty good. It now has a new rear main seal and oil pan set. The tilt mechanism was loose. I took the steering column apart and tightened that up. The new carburetor had never been properly set so it ran rough, especially when cold. Now it purrs like a kitten. The exhaust was crap. It’s now new (custom) from the manifold back. The original radiator was starting to leak. It now has a new radiator. Everything works including the intermittent wipers, heater, defrost, interior and exterior lights and horn. The park brake even works. The tub has been rhino lined and there is no carpet. The tub, doors and windshield frame are solid. There is some rust over the rear wheels. The fiberglass is cracked around one of the rear window hinges. There is no soft top other than a new bikini top in the box that also goes with it. It starts, runs, drives, shifts, stops and steers better than it looks. I wouldn’t be afraid to drive this Jeep across the country. If interested, please give me a call. I've been asked "How do you know it's a Laredo?" It has the "Laredo" name plate on the glove box door, the leather wrapped grab bar, chome outside handles, chrome grille, tilt steering column, power steering and a factory 2" lift. The original seats did have the silver gray piping. Those are all of the standard features of a Laredo. The tires are 31x11.5x15's and have EXCELLENT tread and traction. They are a little noisy on dry pavement but oh well... Darren in Des Moines 515.202.7162
