Vehicle Detail
This 1966 Comet 202 started life in California as a near rust free 6 cylinder automatic with factory air and tinted windows. Things have changed! It has dozens of NOS components and lots of replating to the factory original car. Many components came from a 1966 Cyclone donor; including the bucket seats, console, Steering wheel, transmission, 9” positraction rear end, and V-8 changeover parts. The upholstery, headliner, carpet and door panels are brand new. The vinyl top with factory correct trim was added. And look at the options on it now. Factory AM/FM radio NOS factory clock Air conditioning and tinted glass NOS vacuum operated trunk release (Comet aftermarket option) Power steering Styled steel wheels with trim rings Intermittent windshield wipers and washer (unique in 1966 to Mercury and Comet)Vinyl top The donor 428 cubic inch block has been completely rebuilt with factory correct 390 cubic inch 335 horsepower Cyclone heads and intake with a mild hydraulic cam and correct Cyclone Holley carburetor. The tubular headers are ceramic coated inside and out to reduce engine compartment heat. The Cyclone C6 transmission is rebuilt. The redwall tires have almost 100% tread. The suspension was upgraded to handle the increased power and weight. The speedometer currently reads just over 55,000 miles with only a couple hundred miles on it since the rebuild. The 1966 Comet 202 series was 7 inches shorter than the hardtops and for that reason was a popular drag car in its day. In 1967 only 22 units came from the factory in this same body style with a 427 cubic inch engine. The paint is a 2008 Ford color “Crème Brule” with clearcoat. A 1966 Cyclone hood is also available with this car if desired. This is a truly unique vehicle and a fun ride. Email me with any questions at dougb@thebowerings.com
