Vehicle Detail
1940 Cadillac LaSalle. 322 Cubic Inch flathead V8. Approximately 130 Horsepower, 2 bbl carb. 3-speed on the column. Four Door Sedan with original interior. Odometer shows 74,720 miles but it doesn't work therefore it there is no telling how many miles it has. This car starts, runs, drives, and stops, but will need some work before it is completely reliable and ready for the road. Currently the headlights, taillights, and turn signals do not work. It is still a 6V system and currently has a newer 8V battery This car has the original wiring and some of it has degraded over the years, therefore new wiring should fix any electrical problems. On the other hand, new bulbs all the way around might work. When I bought the car one headlight worked and after it being on for about 15 minutes it stopped working too. The engine does have a miss that could be caused by a number of things. Despite this I have driven the car this summer on a round trip of about 25 miles at speeds from 55-65 mph. This car has had some body work done already but it will still need front floor pans in the future. The doors all close and lock up nice and tight, as does the hood and trunk. The trunk area has had por-15 or something of that type applied to it. Undercarriage and frame are solid thanks to an undercoating that is now beginning to peel off. When the headlight switch is pulled the dash lights come on as does the radio lights (radio itself doesn't play though.) This car rides on wide white bias ply tires on 16 inch wheels, and has a Comet SkyShield front windshield visor which alone can cost $500 by itself. This will make an excellent restoration project, or can be driven on the road as is with a few repairs. I had big plans for the car but unfortunately I don't have the time, money, or know-how needed to complete it at the moment.
