Vehicle Detail

For auction is a 1970 Datsun 240Z. I just purchased this car recently and have not spent much time with it. Let's just say my wife was disappointed that I didn't finish the boat before taking on another project, so to keep peace in my house I must let this one go. The car appears to be in pretty good shape overall mechanically. The engine starts without hesitation in the cold weather and runs strong. The transmission shifts well, the brake rotors and pads are in good shape and the tires are less than half worn. The engine needs a tune up to run well. I ran a compression test on the engine (cold) and the numbers are as follows: Cyl 1=100psi; Cyl 2=98 psi; Cyl 3=110 psi; Cyl 4=95 psi; Cyl 5=115 psi; Cyl 6=120psi. The interior is OK but is does need some attention to be really nice. The front carpets were recently replaced and the seats are in pretty good shape. The center console needs some work, but could probably be salvaged with a little elbow grease. The previous owner installed a dash cap so the dash looks pretty good. There is an aftermarket stereo and speakers along with an aftermarket A/C. It's been cold since I got the car so I can't confirm that the A/C blows cold. This car could be a nice daily driver with a little work. I was looking for a good car on which do a rotisserie restoration - unfortunately my wife has other plans for me otherwise I would definitely keep this car. The suspension components are in good shape front and rear and offer a solid foundation for a rebuild. I added some pictures of the undercarraige since the original listing. There is minor surface rust underneath the body and on the suspension arms, but looks to be predominantly minor surface rust only. I did not see any significant rust at the suspension mounting locations. The body has been repainted and there are spots where rust is coming through. Like most 240Z's the floorboards have some rust. They have not rusted through but would most likely be replaced if a full-off restoration was done. The chrome trim, bumpers, front grille, side marker lights, tail lights and emblems are all there and in good shape. According to the previous owner, the car spent most of it's life in Florida so the rust is really not bad for a car of it's age. The odometer reads 56,634 but actual mileage is unknown.
