WE HAVE ALL, AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER, WATCHED BARRET JACKSON'S AUTO AUCTION ON THE SPEED CHANNEL. BECAUSE WE HAVE, EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE CARS THAT BRING THE BIGGEST AMOUNT; YOUR SO CALLED 'BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK', THE ONE THAT 85% OF BUYERS WANT; ARE THE BIG BLOCK--" NUMBERS MATCHING" CARS...''JUST LIKE THIS ONE'' .. LET ME BRIEFLY DESCRIBE WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM : I HAVE BEEN AFFILIATED WITH THE NEW AND USED CAR BUSINESS FOR 50 YEARS, WENT TO ADULT AUTOMOTIVE TRADE SCHOOL FOR TWO YEARS. HAVE, ON MY OWN, REBUILT MANY ENGINES, AND HAVE RESTORED MANY 60'S CARS INCLUDING BODY AND PAINT WORK. I HAVE OWNED MANY BIG BLOCK CARS WITH MULTIPLE CARBURETOR APPLICATIONS, I HAVE DRIVEN NASCAR RACE CARS AT LONG POND RACE TRACK IN PA AT OVER 170 MPH. I WAS ALSO PART OWNER IN TWO PRE OWNED AUTO CAR DEALERSHIPS AND WAS A PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTER FOR 33 YEARS. I LOVE ALL BIG BLOCK CARS AND WILL USUALLY BUY ONE, REPAIR IT AS NEEDED, DRIVE IT FOR AWHILE AND THEN PUT IT UP FOR SALE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO ENJOY AND THEN MOVE ON TO FIND MY NEXT ENDEAVOR. NOW THAT YOU KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE SELLER YOU CAN HOPEFULLY BE ASSURED I WILL DESCRIBE THIS ''COLLECTOR CAR'' AS ACCURATE AS I CAN. BUT I MUST DISCLOSE THIS: LIKE ALL SALES THIS IS AN "AS IS, NO REFUNDS SALE". YOU ARE BUYING A 46 YEAR OLD SURVIVOR NOT A NEW CAR. PLEASE HAVE YOUR MONEY IN PLACE SO AS NOT TO DELAY THE TRANSACTION. ASK AS MANY QUESTIONS AS YOU NEED, I WILL TRY TO ANSWERE ALL OF THEM AS QUICKLY AND AS ACCURATLY AS POSSIBLE. Up for sale is my 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Z code car with factory big block 390cu in, factory heavy duty 4 speed transmission, and heavy duty 9 inch rear end. I purchased this car a little over a year ago from a man in Georgia who bought it from the SECOND owner. The second owner had purchased the car in the EARLY 70's and drove it until the early to mid 80's. It was then parked in a pole type barn/shed. This car is what the people in this industry call a true 'SURVIVOR'. From the best that I can tell, it appears to have had only one respray in its lifetime and still maintains its original interior and drive train. It is 96% original except for carb, exhaust tips, mufflers, air cleaner, and wheels new rug and headliner. All of the rest is ORIGINAL. Drive Train: This car came from the factory with a 4 barrel 390 hpThunderbird cu in motor. The motor still runs smooth, doesn't smoke, and has PLENTY of power. The car still retains the heavy duty 4 speed with reverse lockout and shifts smoothly in and out of all the gears. Occasionally and i do mean occasionally it will slip out of third when de accelerating, i believe its just a linkage adjustment but wanted you to be aware that it may happen.. The rear end is a heavy duty 9 inch with a 3:50 gear ratio. I believe it is what Ford calls sure trac or posi trac and it is equiped heavy duty shocks with springs and the LARGER AXLES and BEARINGS. The rear does not rumble or grind and bearings are all good. The car still retains the manual steering and brakes. Body: Very Solid that appears to have NEVER been involved in a major accident and has avoided being hacked up / cut up or modified in any way. The factory Raven Black color with the RED INTERIOR are still the best color combination and are intact but both are showing their age and need a good face lift. Trunk and hood both have a faded area, if you paint those and wet sand/ buff touch up the chips on rest of the car you will be great for your daily driver and local car show .The only noticeable rust that I could find 2 months ago was a very small area in the trunk and that was patched with metal and will need to be finished off when you get it at your garage.,a spot under the front fender thats more of a big paint chip and a rust spot left rear inner fender the size of a quarter . The door jambs, bottom of doors, trunk and hood lips, firewall and cowl , frame rails and rocker panels ALL HAVE NO RUST. For its age the car is very solid . It has some very minor bubbling around lower rear corners near rear window and rear rocker but nothing that has come through seem to be a paint bubble. All of the body side moldings and window trim are intact and just need to be cleaned. The car retains ALL of the factory glass and is in very good driver quality with NO CRACKS or chips. All windows roll up and down as they should and side windows do open and close. .Bumpers on car need to be replaced or re chromed . Interior: All of the interior on the car is factory original. Floors are very solid, seat frames are solid. the car could use new seat covers and left front door panel . Has new red correct loop pile carpet installed and New white headliner and sail panels installed . Need rear shelf and also sun visors. Everything Works in the interior , the radio plays , the turn signals , all lights , horn , glove box light , dash lights , dome lights, heater and heater controls all work as they should . Even the cars emergency brake works 100% goes on holds car and will release ..it does need a handle. Wheel Tires; The wheels come with the car and are the ones in the photos they are 17 inch Mustang Bullet with custom 1 inch spacers, tires have 50 % tread left on them . The wheels alone with spacers are worth $1,000.00 dollars and are included with the sale. This car was built in the Ford plant in Virginia and deleivered to Ford Dealer in Georgia It was purchased by original owner and stayed in Georgia for 45 years out of the cold and snow and SALT . Let it sit for 2 weeks go out and pump it two or three times pull the hand choke and she fires right up and ready to go .She drives down the road straight with no noticeable wheel wobble or growls. Whats New and Whats Been Done; Changed all fluids, installed new tune up parts rotor cap wire plugs etc, flushed fuel system, re sealed gas tank after flushing /cleaning. had overflow tank re sealed and purged, new motor mounts left and right side, new mufflers and tail pipes and stainless tips, tailt pipes should be re formed to flow with the body they just come straight back , new four speed shifter with reverse lock out and boot, new electronic ignition , new brake switch, horn relay, turn signal switch, trunk seal, carb was also replace with 650 Holley. If i find the original autolite carb it will come with car, It'swas Pa. inspected in October of last year and is good until October 2011 and of course passed with flying colors. In The Trunk: Yes in the trunk you will see photos of a matching #s 63- 64 Galaxy 2x4 intake with fuel log , new air cleaner ,and two 650 Holley's.If you are the winning bidder you may purchase this set up for only $895.00.00 more .The low/med rise 64 galaxie intake alone is worth that . A version of the car was produced in Brazil under the names Galaxie 500, LTD and Landau from 1968 to 1982. As often is the case with American cars, the model names shifted around from year to year, but the Galaxie was always Ford's full-size car. In the late 1960s, the low trim Fords would be the Ford Custom 500, while the high end would be the XL and LTD, but the Galaxie was normally the high volume counterpart to the Chevrolet Impala. Some Galaxies were high-performance, racing specification machines, a larger forebear to the muscle car era. Others were plain, family sedans.
