In December 2009, on an icy road, at nearly a stand-still, it slipped sideways over the edge of an embankment and rolled onto the right side and the top of the hard-top was leaning on trees. The roll caused very little damage to the Jeep, but when the tow truck hooked its straps on it and pulled it back up the hill, it damaged the body, and especially the hard top and windshield frame. When it was righted, the Jeep was still in great running condition. In fact, it was driven home. The auto body shop wanted to fix it but insurance deemed it 'totaled'. Since then, the new windshield & window frame have been installed and mechanical issues were addressed. The soft top replaces the hard top. A new hood and front right fender were purchased and custom painted to match the Jeep and they are ready for installation. It has passed California DMV inspection and has a current registration. The owner died last August and that is why it is being sold.
