Vehicle Detail

2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000 Formula Extreme Spec Engine Built by Yoshimura R&D July 11, 2001 Cycle News Magazine Cover Feature Lots of other Yoshimura R&D Parts and One-Offs Clear Title in Hand Never Been Down - Super Clean Bike * I AM SELLING THIS BIKE AT NO RESERVE * $$$ THE HIGHEST BIDDER WILL WIN $$$ If you have any questions, please message me before bidding. Bike is located in Corona, CA. If you are local and interested in viewing the bike in person, let me know and we can arrange a meeting. I acquired this bike in September 2010, from a co-worker who owned the bike (I work at Yoshimura R&D of America in Chino, CA). It's been garage kept, even at work. I've never stunted, wheelie, anything like that on this bike, not my thing. I just rode around local mountain/scenic areas and commuted. I'm selling because I want to get out of street riding and fund a jeep project. It's a fantastic bike, great power, smooth handling, good traction; super fun to ride, but its not really for me. This is actually my first sport bike, so I rode it pretty cautiously and never pushed my comfort levels. Tires still have "chicken strips" front and rear. The bike has approximately 6800 miles on it. My co-worker said he put about 5000 on it. He never had the speedo gear installed to keep track. I put a speedo gear on when I got the bike and have run 1800 miles since, so approx. 6800 total. Dash shows approx. 1800 miles. Also including a newer Haynes Repair Manual I bought and a digital manual I found online. I also have front and rear race stands I can include with the bike, if the price is right. I used these purely for maintenance work. Now for the Good Stuff!! This bike was built in early 2001 for the July 11, 2001 issue of Cycle News. The bike was the main feature on the cover in a article called Project-iles II. The stock engine received the Yoshimura touch and later produced around 160hp @ the rear wheel, during the Cycle News test. It features Yoshimura Japan ECU and Engine Management System. Engine Formula Extreme Spec Engine Built by Yoshimura R&D JE Pistons Port, Polish, and Decked Head High Compression Head Gasket 14:1 Compression (runs great on 91 octane) Yoshimura ST-R Camshaft Yoshimura Magnesium Generator Cover - have stock as well Dyno in 2001 making 160hp at rear wheel. Still great power for a 10 year old sport bike! Exhaust Yoshimura Carbon Fiber TRC muffler - sporty/race sound, yet very smooth and toned. Not as loud as you might expect, but not obnoxious like some sport bike exhausts. Team Suzuki Yoshimura Race End-cap and Baffle Custom Aluminum muffler hanger bracket (works with or without passenger pegs) Electronics Yoshimura Japan 13.5 ECU Yoshimura Engine Management System module 2004 GSX-R Dash unit. My co-worker changed it out while owning the bike because he liked it better than the 01's. Suspension Stock (I believe, could have have been re-valved I can ask previous owner) Body Team Suzuki Yoshimura Daytona 200 aluminum race tank. Features a quick dump fuel filler and holds approx. 1.2 gallons more than stock tank for the Daytona 200 race. Carbon Fiber Front Fender with Team Suzuki Yoshimura and Dunlop Decals, like the older AMA Superbikes Suzuki Tank Protector Stock Appearance for stealth, sleeper look Only a few additional appropriate decals All lights and mirrors intact, but turn signals are not functioning Stock Seat with passenger pillion. I have stock passenger pegs but looks way better without them. Original OEM Tool Kit Trimmed OEM Rear Fender Chassis Yoshimura Adjustable Rear Sets Yoshimura Rear Axle Adjuster Blocks Yoshimura Bar Ends Tires Front: Dunlop Qualifier 2 - approx. 2300 miles Front: Dunlop Qualifier 2 - approx. 3200 miles Known Issues: I'm telling you now, so your not surprised later. I have no problem pointing out these issues if you see the bike. Engine does have two small oil leaks, one from the oil drain plug and the other from the generator cover area. I have a washer for the oil drain plug which I was going to install when I changed the oil, but I haven't ridden enough since its last change. I installed the Yoshimura R&D Magnesium generator cover and replaced the gasket with a new one, but it seems to be leaking still. I didn't replace the washers on the mounting bolts, perhaps that is where its leaking. The tank needs some minor mounting adjustments. The front mounting bracket is too short, so the back of the tank doesnt sit in the frame completely. The rear of the tank is held down with several heavy duty zip-ties, but doesn't budge or move at all. It just needs a new bracket for the front mount and tank will be properly secured. The dash is primarily held down with zip-ties. That's the way I received it and I haven't bothered to try to get it mounted properly. The dash was from 2004 GSX-R with 0 miles. It functions properly and odometer shows only the 1800 miles I've put on the bike. The turn signals do not function and the horn is missing. The horn button and connector works, I tested with one from another bike, but the horn is missing. The turn signals don't function at all and not sure why. Tires are still in descent shape. The rear is a little squared off from more commuting miles than twisty miles, but has not reached the wear bars yet. TERMS AND CONDITIONS: PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT PREPAIRED TO BUY THIS BIKE.
