Vehicle Detail

1.  This is the first item I am selling on this ebay account, thus I have zero feedback.  It is a legitimate auction with no reserve, and I will sell this car to the highest bidder no matter how low the price is, so good luck bidding :-)  This car is in Los Angeles.  Mechanics from GoodYear inspected this car less than a month ago, and they found no mechanical problems with it.  I personally drive it all of the time.  After you win this auction, you are welcome to take this car for a test drive.  You can also let a mechanic inspect it.  If after doing these things, you feel that the car is not for you, you don't have to buy it.  I will simply relist it and find another buyer for it. 2.  I personally bought this car from a dealership in Hilo, Hawaii (Big Island) on July 20, 2009.  As far as I remember, the car was listed for around $14,000.  I made an offer of $12,500, and they accepted it.  With taxes and fees, the total came out to $13,228.87.  I still have all of the paperwork from the dealership, so I'll give it to you together with the car.  Few months after driving it on the Big Island, I've shipped this car to Long Beach, California, and have been driving it on the US mainland ever since. 3.  Just few months ago, I bought 4 brand new tires for the car.  I paid around $1,000 for them.  I inspected the tires today, and they are still very good.  I did find one cut on one of the tires, but it doesn't look like it's a big deal (see image). 4.  The car has few minor cosmetic problems.   A.  While in Hawaii, I hit a palm tree while backing up, and broke the rear light assembly on the driver side.  It cost me around $400 or so to get brand new light assembly, but I never cared to fix the minor body damage.  (see image). B.  About a month ago, my wife broke the sun vizor on the passenger side.  I still have the vizor, but you need to hire somebody to re-attach it.  (see image). C.  There are two buttons on the dashboard that got lost.  One of the buttons is "Max", which is basically, when you press it the air conditioner automatically starts blowing at maximum speed from all directions.  It's truly a useless "convenience" button (at least for me).  You can turn on air conditioner by using the other buttons, and set it at any speed level or from any direction you like.  Basically, you can put it on Max without using this button.  The other button is "Air Circulation" button.  Basically, if it stinks outside, you can press this button, and the car stops taking in the air from the outside, and starts recycling the same air over and over again from the inside.  Again, it's a "convenience" button that got lost only recently, because it was loose.  In the year and a half of me constantly driving this car, I never used this button. D.  There is one button on the dashboard that's loose.  It's the plus/minus button for the control of heater and air conditioner.  It works perfectly fine, but once in a while it falls off.  If you get the other two buttons, I recommend you permanently attach this one as well, otherwise if you lose it, you won't be able to use air conditioner or heater. 5.  I've been quite amazed at the gas mileage that this car gets.  I've been using the built-in miles per gallon calculator, and the car averages approximately 25 miles per gallon on the freeway.  It's truly amazing for a SUV, but it also makes sense, because the engine on this car is only 3 liters (it's 3.0i). 6.  This car has been maintained by German-trained BMW mechanics Fred & Danny from auto repair shop on 4214 Lincoln Blvd., Marina Del Rey, CA  90292.  Their phone number is 310-577-7500.  They have been putting into the car highest grade synthetic oil imported from Germany.  They've been asking me to put only Chevron gas into the car, because supposedly the Techron in Chevron gas makes a big difference for this car.  They also have been putting only special deionized coolant into the car, because according to them regular coolant or water creates sparks while traveling through the aluminum pipes, and these sparks damage the piping.  The last synthetic oil change and check-up I got from GoodYear mechanics from Colorado.  Yes, I took this car for Thanksgiving from Los Angeles to Colorado Springs.  It's 1,062 miles each way, so I changed oil on the way back.   7.  If you need this car shipped from Los Angeles to a destination of your choice, I have no problem with it, but you would be responsible for the shipping charges.  It cost me $995 to ship this car from Big Island, Hawaii to Long Beach, CA, and that's VERY FAR...  So hopefully you won't have to pay much more than that :-)On Jan-02-11 at 13:25:42 PST, seller added the following information:One of the bidders recommended that I check my 25 mpg claim by not using the car's built-in mpg function, but by measuring real gas against real miles, so I did. Today, I filled up the car fully, went to a restaurant in another city, came back to the same gas station, and used the exact same pump to refill the tank, in order to see how much gas I used. The odometer showed exactly 79.0 miles, and it took 3.897 gallons to refill the car fully. Thus, the car got 20.27 miles per gallon. Please disregard my previous claim of 25 mpg on the highway. The proper calculation is 20.27 mpg.
