VIDEO BELOW / PRESS PLAY VIDEO ABOVE / PRESS PLAY The 1961 Lincoln Continental was a fresh design, aimed to turn around the Lincoln division, which it certainly had a hand in. Not only was it the beginning of increased sales for Lincoln, but it brought a fresh prestige to the marque. These crisp, straight lines and straight styling was Elwood Engels major accomplishment. He was responsible for the complete design of the car. There were only 2,857 of these 4-door Lincoln Continental Convertibles built in 1961. This example is finished in its correct Honey Beige color. The paint is older and has a number of imperfections on close inspection. This is a driver quality car that you can drive now and enjoy. It is mechanically and structurally sound. This is a dry climate example. Open the doors to 1961 ! The interior features nice leather seating throughout in its correct Beige. The instruments are clean and legible. The lenses are clear. The bright work shows well throughout this car. The pushbutton AM radio is working. The air conditioning system is complete, but not working. It needs a vacuum unit to function correctly. Under the hood is the factory 430 c.i.d. 2bbl. V8 rated at 300 horsepower. This mild mill is mated to the optional dual range automatic transmission. The rear end is the regular factory "open" unit with 2.89:1 highway gearing. Closer inspection of the engine compartment will reveal a strong running engine with driver quality detail. The firewall, inner fenders, and core support are solid. The undercarriage showcases original, undetailed flooring and framework throughout. The original floor pans are in exceptional condition. Fly High or Fly Low. Many of our photos were taken at the historic Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom. This Continental rides on 15-inch wire wheels wrapped in 235/75 series Cavalier Cientra Classic Whitewall tires. The power white top works correctly, and is torn in a few places, as shown. The glass is all in good condition, however the original windshield is chipped and cracked. The original trim tag is intact, confirming this car to be finished in its correct colors of Honey Beige and Beige.
