The car for sale is a garage-kept 1979 Hurst Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais coupe in black and gold with a tan interior. Only 2,499 of this 1979 model were produced, making it somewhat rare and a great find for the restoration enthusiast. It is NOT in running condition and it needs work: engine, transmission, and interior. The carb was rebuilt several years ago but never reinstalled (it's in a box). The transmission doesn't shift properly and needs to be overhauled. I would estimate that, given a week, a good mechanic could get it running really well. The interior needs the most work -- the front seats need new upholstery, the carpeting and headliner need to be replaced, several plastic parts need replacing, and a couple of the gauges may not be in working order. Regarding the exterior, a true enthusiast would probably opt for stripping and a fresh coat of paint, but someone who's good with a buffer and clay bars could probably restore its finish with some time and elbow grease. The car has never been in an accident and has never suffered damage from any form of natural disaster (i.e., flooding). The frame and body are both in 100% sound condition.
