Vehicle Detail
1971 250cc Triumph Blazer Street Scrambler T25SS Same as BSA B25SS Gold Star and similar to Triumph T25T and TR50MX and BSA B25T, B50SS, B50T and B50MX. I believe its recorded mileage at 4,570 is correct. This T25SS is the seventh 1971 BSA/Triumph 250 single I’ve owned over the years. It is being sold to make space available for a 1974 Triumph TR5T that I’ve just bought (same basic cycle parts as this, but with a 500cc twin engine). I lost access to the storage I had available through work earlier this year which means I’ve had to down-size my old car and motorcycle collection and I’m limited to no more than four ‘bikes in the garage at home. Like the other 1970s BSA/Triumphs I’ve owned and own, I’ve used this T25SS for the odd trip around town and one or two shows this year. Growing up in England, I bought one of these second hand in 1974 as my first real ‘bike. I felt like a king and way cooler (but much slower .…) than my buddies who were into Kawasaki S-1 triples and Honda CB250 twins. Times change, but the memories linger - hence the soft spot for this model and why I’ve owned so many over the years. There’s not much to say about this ‘bike. It has the “modern” styling that BSA/Triumph introduced for most of the range in 1971 – slimline forks, improved switchgear, turn signals and a large-diameter backbone frame that doubled as the main oil tank “oil-in-frame”. It does everything in the way you’d expect an un-restored forty-year-old British 250cc single would. It starts with a kick or two. Runs fine. It stops, just, which is all these ‘bikes ever did (the performance from the 6” single leading shoe front brake is a fraction of what a modern disc set up achieves). All the electrics work as they should. Keys are included for both the ignition and the steering lock. It will sometimes drop a little oil after a ride, but nothing serious. It is un-restored, so the paint and chrome have a forty-year patina. The pictures tell all. As well as those shown here, there’s almost 150 pictures to see in the web album. The front has got a new tube and rim tape this year. The tires have been fine for the limited miles running errands and going to local shows that I’ve done, but anyone thinking about doing more will probably want to replace them. Other than normal maintenance, I’ve not had to touch the ‘bike. This year it did get new filters, a ‘carb overhaul using an AMAL OEM Major Repair Kit as preventative maintenance, a new heavy duty chain (the split link flew across the garage when I was doing some maintenance and I could not find it so I replaced the whole chain with a new one), and a new battery. Frame and engine numbers match - BE06389 - which puts it as being manufactured in February 1971. As far as I am aware, other than normal maintenance and wear items, the ‘bike has all original equipment (even has Lucas OEM turn signals). I had planned to give it a cosmetic restoration one day (gas tank/fenders/side panels), but reality is that it has been replaced in my heart by my “new” TR5T and with too little space in my garage it is now time for someone else to enjoy this ‘bike. Free and clear, but, as typical for ‘bike of this age in Georgia, it does not have a title. Therefore, it’s sold with a Bill of Sale. It is sold as-is where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Unless you only plan on riding this a few miles (I’ve never tried, but can’t imagine that it can keep up with Interstate traffic) bring a trailer or arrange to have it shipped. I’m flexible on collection and happy to help with shipping, but I will not crate the ‘bike. Happy to answer questions. Good luck! Here's the link again for the 150 or so pictures in the web album.
