Vehicle Detail

Rare 1960 Austin Healey 3000 MK I BN-7. 300 miles since complete restoration in 2007 by Stephen W. Hronek, former president of the Cleveland, Ohio Austin Healey Club Of America. British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certified. This car has been stored in the garage of the former owner and only driven bout 300 miles since restorartion. NADA value guide on this vehicle is $62000 (excellent condition). Vehicle is available for pre-purchase inspection in Big Bear Lake prior to purchase. A pre-purchase inspection is strongly recommended as vehicle is sold without warranty. Buyer is responsable for all shipping arrangements. THE FOLLOWING WAS TAKEN FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER 'S RESTORATION DESCRIPTION IN 2007. The 3000 BN-7 MK 1 two seat convertable is the second rarest of the produciton Healey models. Between the MK 1 and the MK 2 there were only 3,170 made with 2,825 being MK 1's and 355 being MK 2's. This vehicle was subject to a photo documented 18 month nut and bolt restoration, completed in June 2007. The frame was sandblasted and had both sills replaced as well as the main floors, drivers and outriggers, drivers and pasenger shut pillars and drivers front floor. All light gauge sheetmetal was patched where necessary and then primered and painted to match the finish body color. Body was stripped by chemical bath (steel) and by hand (aluminum) then patched where necessary and finished in Alfa Romero Venetian Red. This is a very dark russet red and receives compliments wherever it goes. The finish paint is PPG urethane base/clear. All chrome was replated or replaced where practical. The interior was supplied by Heritage Trim and is done in British Biscuit with burgandy piping and burgandy carpet. All interior upholstery, top and tonneau are new. The engine was completely disassembled, cleaned, checked for tolerances, bored out .060 over and has new pistons, bearings, timing chain, water pump and rebuilt rocker shaft. Carburetors were rebuilt with all new seals and diaphragms. Transmisson was disassembled, cleaned and had all seals replaced, and clutch replaced. It is a BN4 style transmission, so it does not have a front seal, but has 28% overdrive with the 3000's 3.90 rear differential, so it cruises the highway at 2500 rpm at 60 mph, a fair trade off in my mind. The 5 wheels and tires are new with Dunlop 60 spoke chrome and widetrack 165/15 radials and new tubes. Additional new or rebuilt parts include fuel tank, recored radiator, front & rear shocks, front coil springs and rear leaf springs, front kingpins, wiring harness, stainless exhaust, Optima battery and vintage Lucas 576 ddriving lamps. The car has been in two shows this summer and scored second in class at Stan Hyet Hall in Akron, Ohio. This is a judged CCCA event, and forth in class for popularity at the Austin Healey Club of America's Annual Conclave in Burlington, Vermont. MORE COMMENTS FROM THE PRESENT OWNER: I am an aircraft dealer, not a car collector. I traded an airplane for this car thinking the market for collector cars might be better than the airplane market right now. The buyer will receive the complete restored soft top with frame and windows in matcomg color(biscuit). Also included is a high end electronic ignition system(new box) to boost the car's already great performance and an alternate fuel pump with switch to provide fuel in the event of the engine drivin fuel pump failure or vaporization. You will also get a new $400 luggage rack, never installed, coppies of invoices for well over $20,000 in parts and materials used in the restoration, a photo album documenting the restoration and additional paperwork and books on the car, and of course an almost new car cover.
