Vehicle Detail
From the land of British Racing Green…an unrestored original Triumph Spitfire. As close to new as you will find! Yes, the miles are true and actual…truly amazing! I acquired this car from the original owner, and older gent… retired engineer. You know the type…a total perfectionist. This was his pampered pride and joy… always garage kept and only driven on a few sunny days. Five hundred something miles a year… just enough to keep it limber. Definitely a time capsule in the most desirable color combination. The BRG paint is virtually mint! Look at all the details inside and out including chrome, rubber seals, seats, panels and dash appear just as they were when the car left the factory! It would cost a fortune to restore even a nice one into this condition. No restoring needed here! Perfect? Well, I did find a tiny ding behind the driver door and a windshield trim blemish, both pictured. (I just missed the trim on ebay new for $58). The outside driver’s door handle is in good shape but it seems that something is loose or disconnected—the inside door handle opens the door fine. This Spitfire runs and drives as new without the “scuttle shake” of the higher mileage ones. Smooth running perfectly maintained engine. New original size radial tires mounted due to age of originals. Check out the original tonneau cover in the boot (trunk) still in its plastic wrap from the factory- never opened! For the DISCRIMINATING collector who missed getting a new one back in the 70’S – here’s your second chance! This car deserves to go to someone who will maintain it in its present condition. It is good enough to take to a concours show. A new Spitfire would certainly sell in today’s showroom, if they were still produced, for in the price range of a Miata, but you have the opportunity to buy this car today at a fraction of its intrinsic value! A true investment grade vehicle. This car is available for inspection any time prior to auction end. It is sold in its as is condition with no warranties. I expect all bidders to ascertain whether it is in the condition expected prior to bidding, as all sales are final, with no refunds. I will assist with shipping arrangements although obtaining a shipper is the buyer’s responsibility. Terms: $1000 deposit within 24 hours of auction close, and full payment of the balance within 10 days of auction close. Pickup is to be within 3 weeks of auction close unless other arrangements are agreed upon PRIOR TO AUCTION END. If stated terms are not met by buyer, seller has the right to void the sale, assess storage fees, and/or resell or dispose of vehicle as deemed necessary. Good luck and happy bidding! On Nov-28-10 at 16:05:05 PST, seller added the following information: OK, you Triumph guys (and gals), there's a challenge out there from the competition! An MG Midget has been put on auction a couple days ago, with low miles, claiming to be in new condition like this Spitfire, and it's alredy up to $9000! A buy-it-now for the Midget is set at $18,700! Are you going to let those MG enthusiasts show you up?? I'd rather have a Spitfire any day! Same drive train, but look at the difference in the Italian styling! I'm thinking about adding a buy now price, so watch for it!On Dec-04-10 at 20:37:34 PST, seller added the following information: Reserve has been met folks! I told you it was Low! Examples such as this have gone for in the $20K + range, so it is sure to be a great investment if kept in this condition. For those skeptics out there, make no mistake on this one...it is as close to showroom as you will find anywhere, and a restored example will NEVER achieve this condition. I know it's not spring sports car weather most places, but now's the time to get a value! By the way, isn't green a good color for this holiday season?
