Vehicle Detail

1968 Dodge Charger One of 18,754 1968 Dodge Chargers with the 383 4-Barrel engine and automatic transmission. Scheduled production date of "tax day" (April 15) 1968. The car was purchased at Henderson Dodge in Nevada on October 21, 1968. I have complete owner history of the car from the original Dealer's Report of Sale in 1968 to present, including a few registrations from the original owner up to 1989. The car was purchased from the daughter of the original owner and shows just over 66K miles on the odometer. This car still wears it's original Medium Dark Turquoise Metallic paint that left the factory. The paint is wearing thin on all of the upper surfaces, but still holding up well on the sides. The white vinyl top is long gone, which probably saved the steel top from rusting. Stainless and chrome is in very good condition. All glass is tinted and in very good shape. Doors close firm and solid. The car still rides on all four of it's original wheels, with all wheel covers accounted for. Lower right rear quarter panel has rusted through the outside, but inner can be saved. Right door shows signs of rust on lower rear section. The engine, transmission, and rear axle assembly are original to the car with numbers matching those found on the fender tag. Even the complete exhaust system looks original. The car is equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Drum Brakes, and Power Steering. The clutch fan has been replaced with an after-market fixed blade unit, but almost everything else under the hood is original to the car: battery hold down and j-bolts, original 4401S carb, radiator, air cleaner, distributor, A/C unit, brackets, etc. I placed a battery in the car, hot wired the coil, filed the points, and replaced the carb with a known Edelbrock unit and some gas, and she FIRED AND RAN after a short period of cranking. How's that after not running for more than 20 years! I'll let the new owner have the privilege of making her road worthy! The interior is totally fried from the Nevada sun, but it's there! Equipped from the factory with an AM/8-Track and three speaker dash, but both the radio and face plate have been replaced with the standard AM radio unit. Wood grain wheel equipped car. Complete white interior car; seats, door panels, upper door frame pads, headliner, arm rest pads. Perfect broadcast sheet found under back seat (see below). Trunk looks a bid crusty, but can be cleaned and saved without making swiss cheese. Only through rust is inside the trunk latch support bracket. Includes original bumper jack, base, wrench, and spare. The pristine broadcast sheet was still present under the back seat. The fender tag confirms options with the broadcast sheet. The matching numbers stamped on both the transmission and the engine block. Many more detailed photos and decoded broadcast sheet available by CLICKING HERE.
