Vehicle Detail
This is a re-listed auction at lower reserve and Buy it Now price on this 1974 Saab Sonnet III. This is the last year these were sold in the United States. There were about 2400 made in that year. This Sonnet is a front wheel drive with a 4 speed manual transmission. The body is fiberglass with a steel underbody floor pan. The engine is a Ford built (built for Saab) 1700 cc, V-4. This car was bought by the previous owner with the intent to restore it. He never did get around to doing anything with it and as it sat outside the floor pan became so rusty that it is now probably beyond restoration. There is no title with this vehicle. There are many good parts here however that could be used in the restoration of one with a solid floor pan. The car is missing the bumpers as well as the in grill driving lights. It still has the pop up headlights under the manually lifted covers. The glass is all good and the side door glass, the rear vent glass and the rear hatchback glass all have the Saab logo on them. The two side vent glass windows are out in the pictures but I have them and they are in good condition with the Saab logo on them. This car has the aluminum "soccer ball" style wheels. The tires on the car are just rollers to make it easy to move around. There is a Saab AM FM radio with a very rare Saab 8 track tape player in the dash. All the gauges are intact and look to be in good shape. There is a spare wheel and an original Saab jack and wheel lug nut wrench. In their day these little cars were popular ralley rigs and were quite quick because of their light weight. The engine is free, not stuck, and can be turned over with a wrench. The previous owner said he put a battery in it and it spun over fine but had no spark. There are a keys in the ignition. I made a rear bumper so the car can be pulled or pushed without damaging the fiberglass body. The fiberglass body is not perfect but in good shape for its age. The only break in it is on the lower left front pan which could be easily repaired. Very low opening bid, low reserve and reasonable buy it now feature. Remember, once the reserve is met, the buy it now feature goes away. Delivery with 200 miles at $2.00 a loaded mile figured as per mapquest. I WILL NOT SELL OF SHIP OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES.
