Vehicle Detail
1989 VOLVO 140 DL WAGON BURGUNDY 4 CYL AUTO This is a car I am selling for my son. He got it a few years ago from my cousin and drove it to Chicago when he worked there and has driven it until he bought a newer Volvo recently. The car has the features listed but some do not work. The odometer just quit working, although the speedometer still works. So the mileage is more than shown. We test drove it just before taking pictures and found that the automatic transmission does not seem to shift, it stays in one gear and slips a bit. The reverse works fine. It shifted perfectly when it was parked two months ago, so not sure what is up with that. A piece of chrome strip (as noted in pic) is missing from the passengers side. The Air conditioning no longer works either. Some fabric lining in the very back is falling down. Also some cracking of vinyl dash. The seats are special naugahyde vinyl and in very fine condition. Volvo is noted for having seats of this type that look perfect for decades. The seats are heated but presently do not heat. The seats are of a grade that is extremely good as shown and are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. The seats are in good shape for the vehicles age. The motor runs smooth and strong, although it smoked a bit when we started it up. It did not do that before it was parked a couple of months ago. The car has good power and seemed to get pretty good mileage. The tires are also in nice shape. Over the summer the hood hinges bent and they were replaced. We did not perfectly adjust the hinges so opening the hood is a bit tricky, but both the remote and under the hood latch release work so it would just need to be adjusted I guess. The car was maintained with regular oil changes at 3,000 miles. This is a non-smoker car and has not been smoked in. The car was repainted about 8 or ten years ago and the paint was in excellent shape until recently. I hadn't really looked at it well until Friday. I noticed that the paint has begun to peel in places as shown near the back hatch and on the roof as shown in the pictures The body is in remarkably good condition with small amounts of rust. The back hatch closes but does not latch. The extenders for the hatch no longer hold the hatch up so it stays closed. The battery needs a jump to start. It may just need to be charged or may need to be replaced. The rear brakes were just totally redone last fall at a cost of $450. The headlight housing lens had gotten hazy and both were replaced with brand new ones at a cost of $300, From the front the car looks like it is new with the clean new headlight lens. The air dam cowling as shown is hanging down and would need to be reattached. The car is a classic and really a great design. It is located in Troy, Michigan just north of Detroit. If you would like to check out the car before bidding please contact me through ebay. Thank you. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool. I originally listed this as leather before I discovered that the seats are the heavy naugahyde vinyl. The seats are not leather. I have corrected the original listing and described the seats as naugahyde vinyl in the text but I forgot to change the listing title. Once there is a bid on something ebay does not allow the listing title to be changed. Consequently I am again restating the seat material construction highlighted in blue lettering so it is not missed.
