Up for auction is my 1979 Dodge Sno-Commander with plow.Before i start please note that the mileage stated is what is on the odometer but im quite sure that it is in well excess of 100,000 miles.This has been my daily driver for over the past year and has been a great truck.I pull a car trailer frequently and this old girl does it with now problem even after all these years.The last vehicle i towed on the trailer was the twin to this truck which i towed from 3 hours away at 60 mph with no problem.Speaking of the twin truck ,i have it listed also so be sure to take a look.Anyways back to this truck.In my opinion sadly she is ready to be retired.When i got it the cab was severely rusted in the floor areas and the cab mounts were very bad.I welded all new floor pans in and had to fabricate cab mounts,there not pretty but after a year of use there still holding strong.Im still driving this truck on the road but she is ready for a couple of repairs.Its going to need to have the front driveshaft rebuilt soon,its getting sloppy at the spline area.The front transfer case bearing will need to be replaced soon,it has some play in it .This past fall i put on both new front outer tie rod ends and outer axle u-joints.The transmission filter and fluid were changed this past fall.The tranny works great with no slipping and doesnt leak a drop.The 4 wheel drive works great.All of the lights,turn signals ,brake lights,and plow lights work great.There are lots of new brake lines and a few new brake hoses.All the gauges and dsah lights work.Heater and power steering work great.Plow works great.All of the glass is good and both door glass go up and down.Now for the really bad.The box /bed floor is shot.These came with a wood slat floor in the bed and the wood is totally gone and the metal strips that hold the wood in is gone,rusted away.In my opinion the box is good for only parts,side walls front wall fenders and maybe the tailgate.The tailgate does still work but needs some rust through damage repair.The cab in my opinion is also good for parts,its still holding together but the rocker panels are getting rough and the cab corners are gone.The motor is a 318 and its real tired,it still runs good and has plenty of power but after i has been parked for a few days and you start it it will smoke for a good 10 minutes.If you drive it daily you will never see any smoke at all,probably valve seals.The motor uses about 1/2 quart of oil per 700 miles of driving.The tires are still pretty good and have maybe 1000 to 1500 miles left on them.Last but not least the passenger side front lower ball joint will need to be replaced soon. All in all this would be a great truck for someones personal lot plow or for someone that does just local driving.She will need some repairs before i would take it down the highways anymore.One last thing in the pictures the wheels look like slotted aluminum mags,they are NOT,the wheels are factory steel slots Well i think that i have covered everything but please ask all questions by email before bidding i will answer them asap.
