Vehicle Detail
This is a 1987 Porsche 924S. I bought this car about 14 months ago with intentions to auto-x it and use it for PCA track days. Well, it seems my ambition far exceeds my available time. Pretty much all it has done is sit on the side of my house most of that time. I did have it in a garage over the winter months, so it wasn't covered in 6 feet of snow. I drive the car on occasion, and it never has any problem starting up. I drove it from Baltimore to Hershey Pa back in the end of April when it was 90 degrees, got stuck in numerous traffic jams and it never overheated like so many of these are known to do. In fact, the temp guage never went beyond 3/4. The fan came on and put it right back to 1/2. On the move, it never goes past 1/2. I know nothing of the history of the car, but when I bought it, it did already have the numbers on it, which makes me think someone was using it for PCA D.E. days. There is a really new looking Brosal exhaust underneath, and meaty Pirelli tires (P8000) all around. I've been a member of the PCA since 1986 and have owned 356's, 911's, 912's, 914's 944's, and this is my first 924. I was quite surprised at the power. This is the model that is essentially the same as an early 944, but without flared fenders. Many changes from this and the first gen 924. This car is not without its nuances though. There is no radio, the heater is either on or off, the blower control and temp slider are inop. The odo is showing 32k, which I'm sure is 132, and it's inop also, so who knows? It runs VERY WELL, but it sounds like the timing belt is slightly over tightened because it makes a more pronounced belt whine than others. They all make a belt whine, but this one is a bit louder. Outstanding oilp pressure, so you know the engine has a lot of life left. See the pic. Smooth idle and great pressure. Finally, the clutch works perfectly, but the return spring for the pedal only sends the pedal about halfway back. It doesn't interfere with the correct operation of the clutch and a tap with your foot brings it right back if needed. All exterior lights work, both windows work (electric). The interior is about what you'd expect to see in a 23 year old car, maybe better. It comes with a dashmat. Rugs are in good shape. I would drive the car anwhere or any distance without worry, and I am a very cautious person. If you live in Md, the registration on this is historic, so insurance is dirt cheap. I try to emphasize the negatives so people don't have surprises when they arrive. I used to sell cars on Ebay, so check through my seller feedback and see what others have had to say. I'm still at 100 percent positive, so you can trust what I'm telling you. Please ask all questions BEFORE bidding. You are bidding to buy, not to come look. Come look, then bid. That's how it works! Zero or negative feedback Ebayer's email me BEFORE bidding or your bid will be cancelled. I followed the link and the problem reported with the title is due to the broken odometer. I'm not sure how that's a title issue, but the title is clear and will not be a problem.
