Vehicle Detail
1951 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe. The car is very complete with a couple of exceptions. Car was running when it was driven into the barn and parked on 1970, in storage ever since. Now you have the opportunity to restore this unusual and unique car. Clean title. I do not like to use the word RARE lightly since it is very overused, but take a close look at this one and judge for yourself. There were only 26,328 Starlights made in 1951 (with 3 submodels), of that only 2,781 Custom Starlights, 9,444 Deluxe Starlights, and 14,103 Regal Starlights. Very low production numbers for any car. Take a close look at the extras this car came with: 6 front bumper guards, headlight eyebrows, & stripped interior package. I have never seen another 1951 Starlight with these extras, emails welcome with more info, I will post for everyone. Now the good and bad: The good: Nice complete car, doors open and close nicely, no evidence of any bodywork, glass is there and useable, very little rust, all interior & dash parts there and in good shape, seat frames complete, engine very complete The bad: left rear fender is dented slightly no creases, left rear fender has some rust in the front and rear of the fender, trunk has some cheese holes Great winter project, Street rod project, resto-mod, Etc...I was at a car show and saw one with a big block and blower, unbelievably cool! THIS IS A NO RESERVE, WINNER TAKE IT HOME AUCTION. Please do not bid if you do not intend to finalize the auction; it is simply not fair to me, you, and the other bidders who may want to enjoy this car. Take a look at my previous auctions and you will see that I let them run to the end. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Mike Smith 757-438-2981 On Oct-22-10 at 13:42:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all the questions and requests for more pictures. I just added more pictures showing the dash, interior, and the 2 spots in the trunk that showed some rust; one in the rear of the trunk and the other in the spare tire well. I have not tried to start the car, but the motor turns over freely by hand. Ask away and I will answer any questions you may have. I try to be as honest as possible when answering questions, I will be happy to tell you both the good and bad. On Oct-23-10 at 05:13:49 PDT, seller added the following information: It was pointed out to be by a Studebaker Club member that these 51 Starlight Coupes do not become available that often and that currently there are a couple unrestored for sale at various websites, all well over $4000.00 - $6000.00. To everyone who have called to ask me for a buy it now price, I do not believe it would be fair to end the auction early, and will run to the end at NO RESERVE, as always. So bid to win, and be prepared to take it home. With 5 days to go there are well over 100 people watching the car, so do not wait too long. Thanks, Mike
