Vehicle Detail

For your consideration, here is a rare find - a long hood, classic Porsche 911 which: is a rust free California car which also appears to be accident free is in unmolested, original condition (original seats included, steering wheel, no body mods etc) comes with a Certificate of Authenticity demonstrating original number matching engine and transmission! Also, this is an optional 5 speed. Has a thick binder of extensive, professional maintenance records going back to 1977 and demonstrating that it has been a local CA car has one of the best color combination – white exterior (timeless color, also easy to color match and maintain) with black interior (easy restoration – a lot of interior restoration components come only in black) has engine in a very good condition: never shows any smoke (including on startups, which, having owned several Porsche 911's I find surprising), revs up nicely like an early carburated 911 should. Clean exhaust pipe without traces of burning oil comes with the original toolkit, jack and a front bra nice chrome/aluminum trim including the grill, badges etc The car has a 911 S style, period correct front bumper and European style headlights. Carrera chain tensioners have been installed to get rid of chain problems common with pre-1983 engines. A complete set of new interior carpets is included - I was planning to install but decided to keep the more original look for now. Car comes with a German racing seat (on proper sliders), with 4 point safety harness and a harness bar – never used for racing, but gives more headroom, safety and lateral support. The original driver seat and seat belt are also included (the original seat needs re-upholstery - there is one photo showing the original seat before removal). Tires hold air but are old and should be replaced. The car had one poorly done repair several years ago (photo) – battery acid damage at the trunk bottom was cut out and covered up with screwed-in metal. Eventually it should be welded. The car should have front wheel alignment done. The paint is original on the door jams, exterior appears to be re-sprayed once several years ago. Paint is chipped or uneven in several places and has a damage next to driver door lock (photo). It's acceptable for a daily driver, but it's by no means a show car. In summary this is a rare opportunity to buy a California rust free car with matching numbers, extensive records and mostly original condition, strong engine, which has not been crashed/rusted/modified or already restored to a very high and not affordable price level. Enjoy as an affordable driver or restore to any price level knowing that you are building a good investment on a strong foundation. This car should have a high level of appeal to a knowledgeable Porsche enthusiast. If you are tired of looking at badly modified cars with a fresh shiny paint over rust and bondo this car may be for you :-) Here is a quote about 1970 and 1971 Porsche 911 from “The Used 911 Story” by Peter Zimmermann – for a long time “the bible” of used 911 buying which explains differences between various model years: “Some people believe these cars are the best 911's Porsche has ever built. <...> The 1970 and 1971 911 T's were an absolute blessing. Not many people realize just how good these cars were and still are today. For all purpose use, both town and interstate, the car is just about the perfect blend of horsepower, gear rations, economy, comfort, and quiet that has ever happened to sports car drivers. It can produce 25 miles per gallon at 85 mph, can be driven all day long at 110, or can loaf along in town at 2800 rpm in any of the three lowest gears.” Note: Mileage exceeds the mechanical limits of the odometer which currently shows 58694 miles.I reserve a right to end the auction at any time as the car is also advertised locally, thanks for your interest.
