Vehicle Detail

This is a 1955 which was the first year of production for the 190sl which used the same seats as the 300sl. Hopefully 190sl enthusiast's that are looking at my auction will realize that this is NOT a photo shoot for a postcard with a million dollar house as the backdrop but in fact a display of photographs designed to portray the best possible images to assist interested parties in making an informed decision . That being said it is a nice older restoration which I've owned for many years although the past 7 years or so I have only driven it a few times I do start it regularly and it always starts on the first key turn as the carburetors are only a few years old. It drives extremely well and literally stops on a dime as the mercedes shop in South Carolina that did the restoration also installed front disc brakes, using the 300 series calipers etc. which makes a dramatic improvement . It doesn't smoke at all and there are no oil leaks that show on the garage floor where it's parked, the doors have no sag and shut like a vault with near perfect gaps. Although an older restoration it still presents itself quite well, and even though the paint doesn't have the shine it once did there's something to be said for natural patina. I will add that I never buffed it, perhaps the shine can be restored. There are several different places including the corner of the hood and etched in the engine compartment firewall where last three digits of the vin.is located as this is a matching numbers car. The leather interior is literally like new as I condition it regularly , the dash topping leather is original and does have some cracks in the middle section surrounding the ash tray but still looks quite well otherwise. I've done a few other things since owning that include chroming the horn ring, outer door handles, shifter ring , all the heater controls, front bumper joint covers ,interior rear view mirror , chrome sun visor frame and hardware, possibly more than I can think of right now. The rest of the chrome including the windshield frame is quite nice ,there is a small amount of minor pitting on one section of the rear bumper that is barely noticeable. The picture of the chrome pieces on the convertible top is the sunvisor frame that I had re plated but didn't assemble yet and install it includes new plexi glass insert as well as the original one that's faded. I replaced the convertible top two years ago and the original correct window hard top is in good condition but has two or three paint chips on the drivers side rear, the size of a 50 cent piece. The tires are in excellent condition, carpet is german square weave and the front floor sections are not included, as it had the original rubber mats but weren't in good condition and I never replaced them, the door sill mats are present , very old and look good but are brittle, some of the rear carpet is stained. The rear tail light lenses are missing but the chrome housings are all intact, they sell the lenses for less than $100-. The interior chrome is all good as I used a protective finish on the bezels etc to prevent any pitting. It would be relatively easy to take this to another level is desired by simply painting it but in my opinion it's quite nice the way it is. I bought a new chrome bumper guard that I'm including, at one time I was going to add two but I never got the second one, it is still in the original mercedes box. I have experience with reputable international shippers and can assist with at the buyers expense or for U.S. buyers can provide transportation quotes to your state as I live near one of the biggest hubs in the country for incoming and outgoing cars which is the manheim auto auction where transporters come and go 24/7. I will answer all questions promptly and invite anybody to inspect and drive the car but please only before the auction ends and not after. . i have the clear title in hand and ready to transfer. It is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction for a local sale. On Oct-16-10 at 08:08:14 PDT, seller added the following information: a quick update to let people know that upon several requests I will be adding pictures of the undercarriage later today and also I found my original tail light lenses that are in perfect condition I will install them and take pictures as well. regards On Oct-16-10 at 10:29:15 PDT, seller added the following information: On Oct-18-10 at 20:11:33 PDT, seller added the following information: TO ANSWER SOME OF THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS, THE COLOR WAS WHITE ORIGINALLY IT HAS NEVER BEEN CHANGED, I DO NOT HAVE A BUY IT NOW PRICE AS I RATHER LET THE AUCTION TAKE IT'S COURSE, AND YES IT RUNS SUPERBLY WITH NO ISSUES AT ALL, THE CARBURETORS ARE TUNED TO PERFECTION, AND THE SCRATCHES ON THE HARD TOP ARE NOT SHOWN BUT THEY ARE SIMPLY THREE SMALL SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT AND NO DENTS AT ALL, AND THE SOFT TOP IS FAIRLY RECENT. uNDERCARRIAGE IS SOLID BUT THE PICTURES DON'T SHOW WELL, A WIRE BRUSH COULD CURE THAT BUT THEY WERE TAKEN IN THE RAW, IT IS EXTREMELY SOLID AND ORIGINALLY A SOUTH CAROLINA CAR.
