Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 1985.5 Porsche 944 NA Note:1985 early production 944’s had same interior and suspension parts as 1984 and earlier year cars.Mid 1985 and later were called 1985.5 as they had the new designed interior and upgraded suspension components that were available in 1986 and later. · Guards Red · 5 Speed · A/C (working) · Cruise Control (working) · Sunroof Engine / Transmission– 2.5 liter engine and 5 speed transmission. Runs fantastic. No Issues.Suspension / Tires – New BF Goodrich TA tires on the original Porsche cookie cutter rims. No suspension issues. Drives tight and straight down the road. Exterior – Paint is nice, shiny and bright. Looks like the paint is 3 to 4 years old – and was expertly done. There is a spot on the hood that is about 3” x 8” on the hood where it looks like someone when buffing the hood, buffed too long on the spot and left a fade type mark. You only notice it when looking right at the hood, but wanted to point this out. There are a couple of small chips along the very bottom of the rocker panels. The bumpers and all of the other panels are great. There is a very small chip on an edge of the sunroof that was touched up, The windshield has a small circular crack in the left corner where the VIN tag is viewed. The passenger mirror could use repaint as it has a chip and some scratches. I have a new can of matching single stage paint from paintscratch.com that comes with the car. I just never had the time to remove the mirror and get this done. Like most 944’s, there is no rust as they were galvanized from the factory. Interior – Very nice clean interior, not faded. The seats are the original cloth type with the Porsche logo running diagonal in a pattern – no rips or tears. These seats wear much better than the leather seats. The dash has the typical cracks from the material drying out over the years. I have a dash protector panel that fits right over the dash and looks just like the original dash. It protects it from the sun/heat and looks very nice. The gauges all work. The odometer reads 136k miles, but the guage cluster had been replaced years ago and the mileage is not actual. The console and door panels are great. The shifter boot is new. The steering wheel is a Momo wheel. It came with the car when I bought it. I like it better than the original as you can get in and out of the car easier because it is a bit smaller and it also has nice grip areas. I can get you an original wheel if you like. There is a man near me that specializes in used Porsche parts and has about everything for any type 944. The shift knob was changed to a white knob sometime before I owned the car. It can be changed back to original without much fuss. The carpet is excellent and dark black and very clean. It has a Pioneer CD stereo with updated speakers installed in the original speaker areas. Has the nice 944 floor mats. It does not have a spare tire. I have the original and two spare keys for the car. Maintenance – When I bought the car two years ago I had the following items done within 90 days of owning the car. 1. Replace the timing belts, belt rollers and roller tensioners, 2. Water pump, 3. Power steering pump, 4. Air cleaner with a K&N unit. I still have the original factory cleaner components. 5. Drain and replace the gearbox oil. 6. Exhaust system from the Cat converter back. I have changed the oil every 6 months using Mahle (Porsche recommended) oil filters.. The brakes and everything else on the car are fine. What does not work / or needs help– The interior clock does not come on. The wiper for the rear hatch glass does not work. The button to pop open the hatch from the driver area does not work (have not heard of one that does). When you open the hatch with the key, you need to wiggle the hatch a bit while turning the key. The shocks that hold up the hatch are weak - they work good in warm weather but not when it is colder out.
