1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 75 Sedan For the last time, the luxurious 1976 Fleetwood Series 75 would carry on the nameplate, Series 75, riding on a lengthy 151.5" wheelbase, extending 252.3", and weighing in at a gargantuan 5746 lbs. It is powered by the reliable 500 cubic inch Cadillac motor which had debuted in 1970, putting out 340 horsepower, gross, 195 net. It listed for a base price of $14,889 and only 981 of the sedan were produced, this the model without the power glass partition separating driver and passenger compartments. The seating is a rich Medici crushed-velour fabric in dark blue wraparound Rosewood-grain Asian Tamo wood trim and extra-dense pile carpeting. There are two separate Automatic Climate Control Systems with rear controls for the passenger's comfort and convenience. The passengers can also control rear windows, rear reading lamps, and have four cigarette lighters. The passenger area also features carpeted footrests and full-width folding seats for an extra three passengers, making this truly a 9-passenger automobile. The driver's compartment features a trash receptacle, two cigarette lighters, power window controls for all four windows, power door locks, and a power bench seat. Outside, the Fleetwood 75 proudly displays a huge stand-up "jewel-like" wreath and crest hood ornament and new grill pattern. It also featured revised cornering lamps, horizontal beltline chrome trim, with new Fleetwood plaque-nameplates in block lettering on both front fenders behind the front wheel well and on the rear passenger side trunk lid, with fixed-quarter windows behind the rear doors which were larger than those found on the 1976 deVille. The mileage is original and accurate. The body has no dents and is straight and presentable, the paint is presentable,in the original Cotillion White, the motor runs extremely well, the transmission shifts correctly, the tires are very good with correct 2" width whitewalls. The interior is nearly perfect with the seats, carpet, headliner and glass all exceptional. The automatic leveling works correctly, the A/C front and rear work correctly but need recharging. The original radio works but has been disconnected from the new speakers and a new AM/FM radio with remote has been nicely installed on the tunnel in the front. All power options work except the clock, the cruise, and the power antenna. I would drive this car anywhere, and drove it from Ohio to Minnesota and it performs flawlessly. The ride is exceptional! The motor is powerful and propels the heaviest of the Fleetwood 75 sedans along very well, it being the largest production motor ever built for the heaviest production vehicle built. These Series 75 were produced in a special factory, hand assembled by some of the more experienced GM employees, with a limited production each year, divided evenly between the limousine with the glass partition and the sedan without.
