Vehicle Detail

1962 Ford Fairlane 500 - 2 door - Sports Coupe up for sale! GREAT PROJECT CAR! I recently just purchased this car. This car was built in California, drove to Arizona and spent most of its life in Arizona. Car was brought to Michigan within the last few years and kept garage stored. The body has only surface rust, and in really good solid condition. The front drivers floor pan has minor rust pinholes. Either fix or replace. There is a minor dent in the quarter panel as seen in the picture. Trunk lid was damaged -someone pryed it open. Can be repaired. Other than that - minor door dings... All easy fixes. Interior is deteriorated and needs to be completely restored. There is no headliner but the bows are there, the seats need to be re-upholstered. There is no carpeting. The original center console is there-(which I was offered $500 for) The dash is complete except for the radio. The rear seat is there- needs to be re-upholstered. The side panels are straight cutout panels. This is an easy interior to replace with most aftermarket parts can be found. 2 front seats are not original. No radio or horn for the steerling wheel. This has an original 3 speed transmission, but the shifter has been replaced. Car has 289 motor. The car runs and drives, but will overheat. I think the radiator needs to be replaced. Brakes feel good. New master cylinder. Exhaust is good. Clutch feels good. Tires are decent. Underneath body frame- floors, -rockers- quarters are solid. Gas tank looks to be solid. Engine compartment is clean and solid. Front windshield has crack. Rest of glass in good shape. All Chrome is intact as far as I can tell. As you can see in the photos, the car needs restoration. It is being sold as is, and probably will need to be trailered for long distance. I have given you all information to the best of my knowledge - If you have any questions, please email me. I just want to add that this car is in original condition. There is no bondo - no patching on the body of this car. This is the original paint on it from 1962. This car is a excellent solid car to restore- Hot Rod, Street Rod or Original. See information below I found on the Fairlane 500 2 Door Sports Coupe (This car is actually a 1962-1/2 because of the "500") Production Figures Ford Production for 1962 Sedans 129,258 *Sport Coupes 19,628 Two-Door Sedans 68,624 In 1962, a new, light weight 221 cubic-inch V8 was built using a process called thin-wall casting. The 221 was referred at to as the 'worlds first economy eight'. Later, the engine was increased to 260 cubic inches and then 289 cu in. Half-way through the year, Ford introduced the Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe. The vehicle featured bucket seats and an option for a 260 cubic-inch V8, which was actually a modified version of the light-weight V8. The vehicles could be assembled in either three speed manual or 'Fordomatic Drive' automtatic transmission.
