Vehicle Detail
1966 International Harvester 1100 Stepside 4x4 3rd owner built for the Navy. I know you have heard it a thousand times, and everyone uses the word "rare" like it's going out of style; but this truck is very unique and here's why: This truck was built for the US Navy and delivered to Norfolk NOB on 1 June 1966 (see vin plate pic) and includes the build sheet (pictured). It comes complete with a BG-241 straight 6 cyl gas engine, T16 manual transmission, T141 transfer case, 4.09 rear . The truck runs great and all the 4 wheel drive gears and unit are smooth. The truck came complete with galvanized body parts as required by the Navy, and rust is a almost non existent; although there are a few slight bubbles in a few spots (very minor). Duel gas tanks, Brush guard, and duel battery boxes. The truck was in service at NOB Norfolk, Va until 1971, it was then auctioned off. It was purchased by one of the mechanics who worked at NOB, who continued to meticulously maintain it (along with other antique vehicles) until his death. All of his vehicles were sold off with the exception of this prized truck, It maintained a current inspection sticker until 2006, and includes boxes of extra parts in the cab. The picture shows an after market rear bumper, but the original is included in the bed along with the brush guard, spare tire, and other parts. Does all the above make it "rare"?, I dont know; does it make it unique? Absolutly yes, and quite a conversation piece for military collectors, 4x4 off road enthusiast, and antique truck lovers alike This is quite possibly the easiest winter project out there, or just have fun just like it is. This is a NO RESERVE, WINNER TAKE IT HOME AUCTION. Please do not bid if you do not intend to finalize the auction. It is simply not fair to me, you, and the others who may wish to buy the truck. You can look to see that all of my other auctions have been no reserve, and sold to the highest bidder, so if you have an interest; know that it will be sold at the end of the auction; bid accordingly. Thank you I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I have included a picture of the tailgate since it was not visable in the original post. It is blue and matches the color of the truck (reflection makes it look gray). At this posting there are well over 120 watchers on this truck and we still have 4 days to go. It is truely a nice original truck. Good Luck to Everyone.
