Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is this very complete 1953 Dodge, M37, Military, 3/4 ton, 4x4 pickup with a 7500 pound capacity Braden PTO winch. This is non runner, engine does turn over, but it is so complete that it would be a great restoration project. Note in the pictures that all four of the black out lights are intact as are all four of the lifting rings. The pintel hitch and the rear bumpers are there. In the front is the correct mounted pto Braden winch complete with hook and cable as well as the proper pto shafts and control lever. The 24 volt system is intact with all the pieces and the battery box cover under the passenger seat is all there. The only things I could find missing is the air cleaner and connection pipe and the correct ignition coil. Both of these items are available from internet sellers. The person I got this from thinks he may still have the air cleaner assembly around. If he finds it, it will go with the truck. The engine is loose and turns over. I don't think the spark plugs are correct for the 24 volt system either. Notice under the hood there is a 24 volt horn and in the cab there is a 24 volt windshield defroster fan. These systems are usually changed over to 12 volt systems so it is rare to find one with a complete 24 volt system still intact. The back of the truck has a wood sided cargo box with fold down wood benches for troop transportation. These benches can be folded back up against the sides so the truck could be used as a cargo or ordinance hauler. There is a 4 speed manual transmission as well as 2 speed transfer case for the 4 wheel drive. From what I have found is that these trucks that came with the winch had a slightly longer front frame to accomodate the two piece front bumper and the winch. The truck was originally olive drab and was painted over with a gray color with is flaking off. The frame appears to be good and solid with some minor surface rust. Both front fenders have rust coming through just below the headlights which is very common in these trucks. All the military dash tags are still there. On the glovebox door there are three tags. One identifies the truck as being delivered to the ordinance department. Another tag lists the ordinance stock number as 32741-6800010. The third tag has a mfg, ser # of 80036461 with a delivery date of 9-11-52 and an ordinance contract # 120107. On the left side of the dash are 4 tags, two black and two red. One of the red tags has winch operation instructions. The other red tag lists road speeds in various gear modes. The first black tag has transmission and transfer case operating instructions and the second black tag has servicing data on it. The 4 matching tires are 750 x 16 and are in fairly good condition. There is no title with this truck. There is some evidence that this truck was transferred from the military to a county civil defense unit and it could be possible that no civilian title ever existed for the truck. As I said before, you will look a long time to find another truck as complete and original as this one. Low opening bid, reasonable reserve and a fair buy it now price. Deliver could be possible within about a 200 miles range at $2.00 a loaded mile with mileage figured as per map quest. NOTE: I WILL NOT SELL OR SHIP OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES.On Oct-01-10 at 19:59:39 PDT, seller added the following information: There are two things I forgot to put in the ad, One is that both running boards are bent up amd the windowa are as follows: The left side door window is cracked, the two windshield panes are starting get milky around the edges. The righ side window is intact. The rear cab window is plexiglass. Also, these trucks were made with a soft canvas top and this one has a fabricated metal top. Whoever made the top did a a good job. On Oct-05-10 at 18:58:24 PDT, seller added the following information: 10-5-10, I found part of the missing air cleaner assembly on another Ebay auction. I did win that auction and the part is on it's way to me. It will go with the truck to the auction winner. On Oct-08-10 at 16:22:55 PDT, seller added the following information: THE CASTING FROM THE CARBURETOR TO THE AIR CLEANER ARRIVED TODAY. IT WILL GO WITH THE TRUCK TO THE WINNING BIDDER. ALL THAT IS LEFT TO FIND IS THE AIR CLEANER ITSELF. I AM LOOKING FOR IT!
