2002 Subaru WRX Impreza 5 door Turbo. 110,972 miles. hatchback with OZ Superleggera rims, low profile sport tires, blizzack snows, original stock wheels, roof rack, ski rack, bike rack and more.. Moved to the city 2 years ago and had to leave the car in upstate NY. Never thought id sell it.. but its not getting any drive time.. 17" OZ Super Leggera Rims and sport tires with plenty of tread. Also have a pair of amazing blizzack snow tires to fit the OZ's - plenty of tread. Plus the stock wheels with tires on them.. Thule ski rack, Thule bike rack, cargo net.. KYB GR-2 suspension with 10k miles on them. ISSUES: REAR-RIGHT BEARING is squeaking and will need REPLACEMENT soon and EXHAUST is STOCK - MAY need REPAIR soon. Minor Issues: Needs new AC belt. needs new hoodlatch spring. (not closing fully). Has some dents and very small rust spots. Tint on left-rear window is torn. Minor issues are easy fixes (all under $20) Never been in an accident, minor dents a rust spots are from parking lots rubs.. Car is showing some signs of wear. but the motor is still purring like a kitten, its damn fast, and an absolute animal in the snow. IM not sure what else to say about the car. I dont know a HUGE amount about the wrx.. enough to fix just about everything that doesnt require serious shop machinery but havent had time to do the work - I would really like to keep the car, put in some time and little bit of money.. but i dont have the time or space to take care of everything. so for now it is just sitting in upstate NY waiting for a new owner..! It currently has no registration, insurance etc. I have the title ready to hand over..! Just had a friend swing over and start up the car for a drive around the block.. Still no bids at this point, so please observe the following revisions: FIRST: The battery has died - will probably need a new one if you plan to drive home (required a jump start) SECOND: Hearing more friction from the back-right. May be a result of corrosion and rain/sitting in the driveway, but to be safe I will say it DEFINITELY NEEDS BEARING REPLACEMENT if you plan to drive for any distance I am selling the car AS-IS. It should be taken to a mechanic for a quick check - i have a fast and reliable guy in my home town. I regret not being able to have it looked at myself or better, fixing it myself, but simply do not have the time nor physical ability (being that I am in NYC). On Oct-06-10 at 05:34:50 PDT, seller added the following information: AUCTION UPDATE: While a few interested parties have called/emailed with questions, enticed by the 'honest and forthcoming' nature of my listing, a couple others have expressed confusion and skepticism with regard to the car's description, condition, and necessary repairs.. Not surprisingly, this has led to a post-bid, loss of confidence in a few bidders and 2 subsequent bid retractions/cancellations! - One bid ($4000) was retracted on the grounds: "Entered wrong amount" - maybe he/she was drunk.. either way... i guess it happens, you get excited after a fun night out at the bars and your DD is powering turns in a wrx, next thing you know you're punching numbers on the keyboard trying to buy one... - The next highest bid ($3000) was retracted after "seller changed the description" (the seller here being ME obviously). Apparently there was simultaneous sign-on, description revision, and bid placement that resulted in an "oh sh*t" moment after bid review.. I'm not entirely sure how this happens.. I have feeling this was a toss-up bid from a buyer who didnt expect (or really want) to win... (CHANCES ARE, YOU WEREN'T GOING TO WIN, IT JUST LOOKED LIKE IT BECAUSE YOU BROKE THE VERY LOW RESERVE THAT I SET WHILE BIDDING 3-4 DAYS BEFORE THE AUCTION CLOSED - ie. ALL THE EXPERIENCED EBAYERS WOULD BE WAITING UNTIL THE FINAL MOMENTS TO OUTBID YOU). apologies if you're reading this and I seem annoyed - it is ultimately my fault, could have been avoided with initial full disclosure.. but in my defense i said PLEASE call me with questions. Whatever the reason for bid cancellations, I take full responsibility in not providing 100% transparency to my buyers and in revising the listing post-auction start. Moving along... Id like to answer a few FAQs and give a brief history of my ownership to provide context: 1. Why are you selling it for so cheap? ANSWER - This is an auction, not a fixed-prix buffet.. There is no list price, only a start price ($900). The start price is so low, and the reserve also very low (see next FAQ), because im trying to sell the car while in nyc. Ebay buying and selling is not my primary source of income, and though i would be very happy to see my beloved car attract some high numbers, I am MOST interested in getting it out of my parents driveway before winter.. 2. What is the reserve price? ANSWER - $3000 3. Have the timing belt and water pump been replaced? ANSWER - No. Still running original timing belt and water pump. I had plans to change around 100k (the recommended mileage for the replacement of these stock parts). Then i had solid plans at 105k... 5k miles later its up for sale, u can see the trend here... ran out of dough, got a job in ny and left the car in upstate ny.. 4. What type of oil? how often changed? ANSWER - Mobile1 Synthetic, changed every 3-5k 5. How long has it been sitting in the driveway? ANSWER - Car has been in upstate NY since Feb. 2010 but has been started and driven once a week 6. What is the BUY IT NOW price? ANSWER - Sorry folks but there is not a 'buy it now' option. Brief History for those of you who still think this could be a scam.. I LOVE the car - it's nimble and grippy handling easy saved my life in 2 occasions when avoiding a close-quarters highway spin out in front of me and having to swerve to avoid a car running a red light. I drove it for 80k miles after buying it from my uncle (had 30k miles at the time of the sale). Uncle is a very meticulous car fanatic, sold it to me for an upgrade a new WRX sti.. I started work in nyc 2 years ago and brought the car with me. parked it in brooklyn near my apartment, where it picked up some nice beauty marks (dents, scratch that got a bit rusty).. it seemed practical at first so I drove it home to saratoga springs on the weekends, escaping nyc summer heat - this worked for a little while until the parking tickets piled up and fall rolled around.. I realized that no one in their right mind uses a car in nyc unless they commute from the burbs and even those people are idiots fro not using mass transit.. So i bought a bike and parked the car in upstate ny where i planned to keep it registered and insured for the ski season.. but it sat in the driveway with my father starting it and playing around with it in the snow when he was bored or when i called anxious about my mother turning it into a planter.. Before long, the registration expired and i was not there to take it for an inspection (though i will assure you it will NOT pass inspection in its current state due to the wheel bearing). and i was wasting insurance money.. so i pulled the plates off it, parked it under the eve our garage and I have finally had the opportunity to list it on Ebay! Luckily my friends and cousins fancy the car almost as much as i do and have been there to run it for a bit a few times each month.. there is prob more to the story and most of this was mostly a stream of consciousness so details may be left out..
