Vehicle Detail
For sale is my EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE (19,6xx documented miles) 1979 Oldsmobile Toronado. Like her GM counterparts, the Cadillac Eldorado and Buick Riviera, this car has the elegance and style that made them all very desirable in their day. In fact, I get positive feedback about the car almost every time I drive it(wow - what year is that? It's a beauty...etc.) The key difference between this car and the others is that it’s got the best engine. As nice as the Eldorados of these years looked there is no comparison in the performance of this 5.7 liter V8 and the 4.1 liter which routinely develops engine trouble due to issues with the cooling system and other factors (read about them online - I learned first hand - I had 2 of them) or the 307 V8 that is in later model Rivieras and even Toronados. But enough about history….let’s talk about this car! The car was purchased from the estate of the original owner who lived in Indiana, and as a result I have all of the paperwork including the original bill of sale to prove it. The car was always garaged or covered. When new, the car was rust-proofed and undercoated professionally by the Oldsmobile dealer . A remote alarm and a modern CD stereo was later installed. Both operate perfectly and they are the only modifications made to the original car. This car runs and drives JUST LIKE A BRAND NEW CAR. There are no noticeable squeaks or rattles when driving. She starts right up every time. The air conditioner blows cold, and everything including the clock and power antenna in the car works. Even the warning lights (headlights on, door ajar, etc.) work exactly as they are supposed to. The engine and transmission run quietly and efficiently. The tires are like new with very few miles on them (I'd estimate at least 90% tread life left). That said, due to her age, a number of mechanical elements recently required attention. As a result, my local mechanic went to work on her for me –correcting EVERY issue we could find. This is what was done in the last 30 days: Lube Oil Filter change change Replaced wiper blades NY State Inspection (passed with flying colors) Full Tune Up using only AC Delco parts Spark Plugs Ignition Wire Set Distributor Cap Distribution Rotor PCV Valve Fuel Filter Air Filter · Exhaust System from the cat back, using Walker exhaust parts – not cheap aftermarket replacements that are available for hundreds $$ less o Walker Lifetime guarantee muffler o Resonator and Pipe Assembly, clamps · Front End work - to ensure a smooth ride o Upper Ball Joints o Sway Bar Links o Steering Idler Arm o Full Front End Alignment o Tire Rotation · Rear Brakes o Rear Wheel Cylinder o Brand NEW Rear Brake Drums o New Monroe Brake Shoes · Heater Core o Replaced heater core (wasn’t leaking but was ready to go due to age) · Engine Starter Motor, Alternator, and Battery were all replaced · Replaced Heat/A-C blower control switch · Replaced Choke thermostat While the interior in this car shows very few signs of any wear (no obvious fading, or fatigue and no “old car smell”) the exterior also looks very sharp. I have done my best to photograph the car so that you can see both the body and interior. The rear bumper filler does need to be replaced and I have already purchased the parts needed, so the winner of the auction will get the brand new primed bumper fillers with the car (my cost was nearly $200). The car will also come with a very nice car cover which was used to protect the car when not being driven. Why am I selling her??? I am selling the car because we have just decided to buy a new house that only has one garage and our family's SUV will occupy that space(our current home has 2 car garage). I have spent thousands of dollars $$$ bringing this car up to my high standards, but because we are moving, I am forced to sell her - my loss, your gain! I am an honest person with 100% feedback on eBay. Hopefully, the pictures and information provided in this listing will accuratly describe the condition and operational capabilities of the car. This auction is being offered in order to sell the car, not to estimate her value. It will be sold to the highest bidder. Good Luck!
