Vehicle Detail

1969 Mercury Monterey Convertible. This car has been stored in a barn since the late 70's as per the previous owner. Car was owned by an elderly man and wife, and has been sitting "in the barn since they quit driving in 1979." The car was started periodically during all these years, but was not driven. The car was loaded as the pictures reflect, and moved from that barn to our barn in Kentucky, unloaded, and put in another barn this spring. We placed a battery in the car, put in a little gas, and it immediately fired up---no smoke, rattling, or valve clicking--the motor ran pretty well! The brakes are up, however the car is not licensed and we have not driven it! The car has NOT been cleaned or even washed since bringing it to our barn---as the pictures indicate the car will need a lot of attention and cleaning. The trunk is completely full of spare parts for this car, and we also have (pictured behind the car) a lot of spare parts for Mercury's that were part of the deal when we picked it up. These go with the car. Have we gone through the spare parts in the trunk? The answer is NO, so who knows what you'll find there! The old gentleman was in his 90's, and wanted us to take the "extra" parts he had! The mileage is supposed to be right (less than 24000). The upholstery, carpet, dash, door panels, glass, etc. are seemingly good as are the seats. The top has a couple holes in it, and the back plastic window is shot! Dirty and surface rust under the car, as it was sitting in a barn with dirt floor all those years. Paint is shot! The old gentleman stated the car left front fender hit a deer "back in the 60's, and had some repair but the car had never been wrecked." Car will need a total restoration to be nice, but we wanted to leave all the dirt, etc. in and on it as we found it. By the way, a total of 1297 of these '69 convertibles were made! The engine is a 390 2 barrel motor. If you have any specific questions please call 502-396-4651. The deposit made through this auction is Non-Refundable for any reason. This is an auction, the reserve is very low, and that means if you win, please fulfill the contract! Good luck on this old car. Thanks!!
