Vehicle Detail

1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Super Sport. This is the one you have been waiting for! Completely stock California original barn find. This car is for the collector who is looking for a that rare stock SS Chevy II that has NOT BEEN ALTERED. If you want one with a big crate motor, B&M shifter, pimp wheels, and seats from a late model Camero, this is NOT the car for you. Keep scrolling down in the listings and you can find those all day. People do that to these cars because they started with an incomplete car and had to piece it all together. You WILL NOT find a more solid complete original California Chevy II SS. They just do not exist anymore. So here is an opportunity to collect something very unique and rare to start your restoration. This car has all Chevy II Super Sport emblems and does not have anything on the car that has "Nova." The history of this car interesting. I purchased the car from the original family that bought it new in California in 1966. It has 78,000 original miles. The owner died in 1998 and the car has sat in a car port since then. The last sticker on the original California black plates is from 1998. I had been looking for one of these cars in acceptable condition for about 10 years. I never dreamed I would find one this nice. I brought the car home and was going to take it all apart and rebuild it with a few small alterations. After consulting many restorers, it was pointed out to me that this car is an excellent example of an original, unmolested Chevy II SS and I might not want to alter the car in any way but rather, offer it up to the real collectors who want the car complete and untouched right now. After sitting for 10 years the car required a bit of work to get it up and running on the road. We sent the gas tank out to be cleaned and a new sender unit installed. The radiator was recored and the brakes required rebuilding. The carb was cleaned out and fluids changed and the Super Sport roared to life after its hibernation. The car starts easy and runs fine down the road. The lights work, even the dome light and the dash and SS console lights. Since it is an original California car it has the required air pump and injection rails that were put on the car when new. It is all complete! You can see that the original Marina Blue paint is about gone. The family took light primer and attempted to spray the car to protect the areas where the paint got thin and some minor surface rust was forming from moisture sitting on the hood and trunk. I rubbed the primer off with some solvent on the forward edge of the hood. See the picture. We took the bumpers off and had them at the chromer before we decided not to restore the car, but sell it to someone who can do a first-class restoration. So the rechromed bumpers are back on the car. I have the rechromed overiders also in a box. I saw this same car, 66 SS in Marina blue, completely restored, sell at a national auction for $92,000. We have recently seen some plain-jane 1966 Novas with straight six engines that do not run sell for $10K. Unbelievable what these cars bring with such a demanding following. So the car can be driven as-is or restore over time. With just paint and upholstery you would have a really rare good looking driver. The car is sold as-is with no warranty and does need work to make it look nice. I have a 100% feedback score because I sell things fair. If the buyer feels it was fair, and they have room on the back side to move the car again in a few years, then everyone is happy. The car is not cheap but you will be more than satisfied with a car of this rarity. God Bless. On Sep-27-10 at 08:25:02 PDT, seller added the following information: We have photos of the serial numbers on the block, trans and rear end. We tried to post them but I have already posted 24 pics and ebay will not let us post more pics. We will send the pics to anyone who wants them including more of the trunk area etc. The bidding is quickly coming up on the reserve. The response has been good as buyers see the value in the car. Many questions about what the car will need. Tough question as this depends on what the buyer wants to do with the car. Although it is running good, we all know the the real value would be in a restored car which includes a rebuild of the running gear so a running engine is irrelevant. The car would need cosmetics as a minimum. Paint and interior would get the car to be a real acceptable looker. After being stored for the extended period some mechanicals may start to fail if the car was driven significantly instead of being restored. The type of buyers who are looking at this car fully understand this. The car is sold as it is, so please ensure this is the car you have been waiting for. I have space here and can easily store the vehicle for 30 days or more while you find transportation.
