Up for auction is a 2001 BMW 330I. The vehicle is black in color with a tan leather interior. The interior trim work has been covered in red suede for a custom look. It has dual powered seats with heat. It has a custom stereo with premium sound. The previous owner spent over $4k for a custom made stereo box built to fit the rear deck of the car. The box is lined with red LED lights hidden in the lip of the box which are controlled by remote. The system includes an Alpine iDA-x001 deck which is full color and has USB connection for I-Pod or any other MP3 player. You will also receive a the Amplifier and a Kentwood Sub. The car is also equipped with a Viper 7900 Remote Starter/Security System. This one remote can start and stop the car, turn on the LED hidden lights, set the alarm, unlock doors, open trunk…etc. The unit is programmable to perform multiple functions. The car is equipped with a sun/moon roof (currently not opening properly), rear spoiler, Xenon head lights, automatic windshield wipers, and clear corner lenses. It has ~157,000 miles. I acquired this vehicle through a trade in June of 2009 with approximately 144,000K miles. It has been a second vehicle to me and not a necessity. There are a few chips and few small scratches but overall the body is in excellent condition. The motor starts and runs perfectly. In my ownership, I have replaced the battery, alternator, power steering pump, front control arms & bushings, and front shocks. Here is the bad: · The amber engine light stays on and has been that way since I've owned it. It has been checked/tested at PEAK BMW and it is only an emissions concern issue. The emissions concern does not affect the performance of the vehicle. Unless your state requires an emissions test, maintenance here would be optional. · Sun/moon roof has fallen off track and is no longer moving properly. It is currently closed and not leaking. · Two tires are nearly bald and would need to be changed fairly soon. · Handling is a little shaky.. When I got it, the ride was a little shaky so I changed the control arms, bushings, and shocks hoping to smooth out the ride but no success. Its NOT horrible I just think it’s a little rough for a BMW. · Latest and most important problem. The brake light is on and does require immediate maintenance!!! Likely a complete system check flushing all brake lines and checking gaskets and hoses for abnormal decay. Also, new calipers and pads will likely need to be replaced. See note below. Note: I just recently sold this vehicle through E-bay to a girl in Alabama. The transaction went fine and titles were exchanged etc. She p/u in Houma and drove the car back the 8-10 hours to Alabama. The following day she brought the car to get check at her local dealership and this is where the brake problem was discovered. The mechanic stated the calipers were failing. They believe, insufficient/non-recommended BMW oil of some type was used in the brake line at some point in the days, weeks, months+, prior. The oil was not the proper type, grade, detergent, etc. required. The dealership stated that the incorrect oil started to decay the gaskets in the calipers causing unintentional compressing of the front passenger side brake. This may explain the shaky ride I experienced. Maybe the one brake was periodically compressing slightly causing the shake. They stated the complete brake system needed to be looked at. Anyway, because it was an existing problem (which I was unaware of) I opted to buy back the vehicle. Titles were once again transferred to my name- a costly event!! This vehicle is being sold as is where is !! Serious bidders ONLY. Feel free to inspect or test drive the vehicle BEFORE bidding. -Still drivable-just not recommended for normal commute. Needs maintenance soon! No buy backs this time. The car is located in Houma Louisiana 70364. I will NOT ship this car to the purchaser. It must be picked up in Houma LA within 7 days of auction end. I am selling because I do not have the time or patience to look into this. Plus I refuse to pay a BMW mechanic hourly fees! Note: This car is not for the average white collar. It would be perfect for a mechanic, a restorer, or someone willing to spend some time and some money getting this back in great condition. Serious bidders only.
